Interactive Instruction: Review spreadsheet vocabulary and allow students to complete Ex. 6-12. Have students print ex. 4 and 5.

Closure: View spreadsheet 6 on their screens.

Independent Work: Numeric keypad practice.

Learning Target: I can use Excel software to create spreadsheets (formulas).

Interactive Instruction: Demonstrate copy, paste, font formats, apply auto formats, and adjust column widths, number formats, cell alignment, borders and shading, print preview. Guide students in completing Ex 13. Assign Ex.

14 and 15. Circulate to offer assistance.

Closure: Students will discuss difficulties with spreadsheet.

Independent Work: Practice keypad.

Independent Work: Students will make a list of five careers in the career clusters:

Manufacturing and Science and

Mathematics.

Learning Target: I can describe careers in the Manufacturing and Science and

Mathematics clusters.

Interactive Instruction: Show the videos on the Manufacturing cluster and have students pick two activities to simulate a specific occupation in this cluster. Show the video on Science/Math cluster and students will complete two simulated activities.

Closure: Ask students if they found a career that really interests them in these two clusters.

Independent Work: Finish the career cluster activities from yesterday.

Learning Target: I can identify opportunities that are available for job training and higher education.

Interactive Instruction: Students will complete the Chapter 9 Reading guide.

Use the text to complete the guide.

Closure: Review the guide by having students read the statements aloud.

Interactive Instruction: Students will learn to change a cell entry, check spelling, cut, copy, and paste, transpose cells, find and replace, relative vs. absolute cell references. Assign spreadsheets: 19-24.

Closure: Observe students work on the screen.

Independent Work: Continue work on yesterday’s spreadsheets, 19-24.

Learning Target: I can use Excel software to create spreadsheets (change structure levels of education and the degrees awarded at each level.

Interactive Instruction: Students will check their answers to the reading guide.

Students will recall the skills needed for two occupations of their choice. Collect handouts. Discuss having a class debate with the students. Explain the debate topic with background information. Break the class into two groups and assign the research element.

Closure: Teams are beginning their research.

Independent Work: Show an outline of the debate process and roles that students need to fill today.

Learning Target: I can research the employment situation in the US right now and the find facts to support a debate.

Interactive Instruction: Students will research for 20 minutes and then break to meet with their teams. Discuss the findings and develop the opening arguments for the debate. Groups select three students on their teams to be the debaters. These three work on their arguments while the other group members come up with a list of five questions for the opposing team.

Closure: Students finish their debate work.

Independent Work: Give students time to meet with their teams to discuss the debate and their arguments.

Closure: Turn in the evaluation sheet.

Interactive Instruction: Students will debate the topic of the week.

Closure: Decide a winner in the debate.

Interactive Instruction: Students will complete work on activity 3-4 and submit. Introduce Activity 3-5. Explain how to connect words and number the words and clues. Demonstrate creation and resizing of Word Art.

Closure: Students should e-mail their activity 3-2 to me.
