Dear Parents,
Thank you for enrolling your children in the Cathedral’s Religious Education
program. Your trust in our program is greatly appreciated. We make the commitment
that your children will receive a valuable and memorable year of catholic religious
education based on the traditions, Gospel values and authentic church teachings. The
education will be at the appropriate level for your child from creative, competent and
caring teachers.
We also need your commitment to ensure that your child receives the full benefit
from our religious education program. That commitment means that your child will
arrive just prior to our class start time and attend every class. We understand that
children get sick and families have emergencies but please make every effort possible
to get your child to class. The religious education program builds throughout the school
year and we do not want anyone to miss the steps along the way.
This year’s Children’s Religious Education program will start on September 27th
and continue until May 22nd 2016. The sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion
will take place on April 30 and May 8 with the Confirmation date to be announced later
during the school year. The class times will remain the same; we will begin promptly at
8:45 and dismiss at 9:50. You will receive a school year calendar from your child’s
teacher during the first class session.
Thank you again for your involvement in the religious education program and the
Catholic future of your child. We have many thought provoking projects planned for the
children and promise to keep you involved in their faith formation. Please note that we
will be celebrating our Religious Education program this year with a Children’s Mass
on October 4th at the 10:00 Mass. Please plan to attend and sit in the reserved seats.
