Summary Profile
Dr Inyang Takon is a Consultant Pediatrician with Specialist interest in Neurology, Neurodisability
and Paediatric Neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr Takon runs regular Specialist Epilepsy Clinics for
children with Complex Epilepsy and also coordinates a Joint outreach Paediatric Neurology clinic
where children with complex neurological problems are seen along with a Consultant Paediatric
Neurologist.

Dr Takon’s area of expertise includes assessing and managing children with Epilepsy,
developmental delay , cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders and genetic disorders , ADHD,
Autism, foetal alcohol syndrome and children with complications following maternal; substance
abuse . Dr Takon is also an experienced General Paediatrician and will see children with a wide
range of General Paediatric Problems. Dr Takon has had extensive Specialist Paediatric Training
in Paediatric Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics in Tertiary Hospitals abroad and the
United Kingdom. Dr Takon is also experienced in assessment of children with safeguarding
concerns relating to Physical abuse and Neglect.
Dr Takon has undertaken academic postgraduate training in Clinical Neuropsychiatry and has
recently completed the coursework for the MSc Clinical Neuropsychiatry programme at the
University of Birmingham.
Dr Takon is actively involved in training and research. She has carried out international
collaborative research on Epilepsy and developmental disorders resulting in publications in
various international journals.
Dr Takon consults privately in Hospitals in Hertfordshire and has produced medicolegal reports
for courts relating to children with developmental, neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr
Takon has also given evidence in court when required.
Specialties
Epilepsy: Dr Takon has expertise in assessment and management of children with epilepsy
including children with mental health comorbidities. Dr Takon has access to a high level
neurophysiological service for investigation of epilepsy in children and is experienced in the
management of children with complex epilepsy.
Tics: Dr Takon is experienced in the assessment and management of children with Tics and
Tourettes syndrome.
Post traumatic brain injury: Dr Takon is experienced in assessment of organic and behavioural
sequelae following traumatic and non traumatic brain injuries in children.
Headaches: Dr Takon is experienced in the assessment of children with episodic and chronic
headaches.
ADHD: Dr Takon leads the East Herts ADHD service and is experienced in assessing and
managing children with ADHD and comorbidities.
Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: Dr Takon is experienced in the assessment of children for
Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. Dr Takon chairs the Healthcare Professional Forum on FASD.
