A Connellsville District
Continuing Education Event
Dr. Bruce K. Fowler, Th.B., M.Min., M.A., Ph.D.
(Member: American Association of Christian Counselors)
Dr. Fowler has had almost 50 years
experience in Christian counseling in both
private practice and in state
institutions. He taught Pastoral Counseling
and Biblical Psychology at International
Christian University (San Juan, Puerto
Rico) – and as guest professor in many
seminaries and Bible training schools
around the world --and served as Puerto
Rican National Director of prison
chaplaincy during part of the twelve years
he and his wife, Judy, were missionaries in
that country. His experience in counseling
in volatile situations and in many countries
includes dealing with severe abuse
situations, major psychotic dysfunctions,
marriage and family issues, addictive and
compulsive behaviors; and many other
relational, psychological and spiritual
problems. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Fowler served as a
clinical psychologist for the state of Oregon for seven years with
institutionalized and developmentally disabled and psychotic adults. In that
setting, he confirmed that the Bible itself was the key to emotional healing
and mental health, even in secular contexts where its truth could be
applied. Dr. Fowler and his wife, Judy have been counseling in the W.
Pennsylvania area since 1995, working closely with pastors, churches,
missionaries, and community mental health organizations both in the U.S.
and other countries. Many of his current counseling clients are themselves
pastors, missionaries, and therapists,. Dr. Fowler regularly travels to other
countries to teach counseling in seminaries and pastoral settings.
