Application Filing Dates:
Priority filing dates are when admission applications are due to the universities to which you plan to
apply. Applications are due one year IN ADVANCE of your transfer date.
There is normally a one-month window of time when applications are accepted for a specific term at the
CSU and UC systems. Please refer to the dates and deadlines within the CSU and UC application packets.
If you cannot obtain a CSU or UC application packet, the following is a generic calendar of filing dates:

Not sure if you meet upper-division status? Set an appointment with a counselor in the Transfer
Counseling Center and find out!
Make a point to meet the deadlines - particularly if you are in an impacted major, as impacted majors
may have additional requirements. Set a counseling appointment in the Transfer Counseling Center to
see if additional requirements pertain to your major.
If you have an approved Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) BE SURE TO SUBMIT A COMPLETED
ADMISSION APPLICATION WITHIN THE PRIORITY FILING DATE OR YOUR TAG WILL BECOME VOID!!

Minimum Transfer Eligibility Requirements


60 CSU-transferable units (courses numbered 1-99 + PE courses)
30 GE CSU-transferable units, completed with grades of "C" or better, which must
include:
 All of Area A (speech, English, Critical Thinking)
and Area B4 (A transferable Math numbered between 1 - 99)
 Minimum 2.0 GPA for California resident
Note: Many CSUs now require that these four courses be completed by spring for fall transfer,
by summer for spring transfer.
Recommended Transfer Guidelines






30 CSU-transferable units for full junior standing
39 CSU-transferable GE units completed & certified, of which 30 units (including all of
Areas A & B4) must be with a "C" or better
Lower division major preparation done
2.5+ GPA (Impacted majors and popular campuses may use additional "selection
criteria", including a higher GPA and specific preparation.

Apply during the CSU priority application period at CSU Mentor (www.csumentor.edu)
Note: To graduate from a CSU, students are required to complete at least 9 units of upper
division GE after transfer. Students cannot complete all GE required for graduation from a CSU
at Butte College.
Butte College counselors assist students to develop specific academic plans to fulfill the
requirements for transfer. To make an appointment, call the Butte College Transfer Counseling
Center at (530) 895-2264.

If you are completing either your English, Speech, Critical Thinking, or Math requirements
during your last semester before you transfer to CSU, Chico, be sure to click on the link below
to print out a Confirmation of Final Grade form to take to your instructor during your final
exams.
Submit the form the your instructor. Ask the instructor to please complete and fax the form to
CSU, Chico so you can register for CSUC classes on time. Be sure to also submit an official
transcript to CSUC once all final grades are posted to your transcript.
