Travel Grants to Germany for Young Persons engaged in the Cultural and Civil Society Sector from
Ukraine
The Goethe-Institut will offer travel grants to Germany
Deadline for the application: 20 November 2015
In times of social and political transformation processes, it is important to strengthen the will and
competences of persons, who are motivated to play a major role in these processes. Especially young
people should be enabled to assume and practice individual responsibility and to set up and
strengthen networks with local and European partners. The exploration, reflection and eventually the
establishment of creative and independent initiatives should empower young people to take
responsibility for their own ideas and to participate in the developments of their society and their
country.
The Goethe-Institut will offer travel grants (up to 7 days) between November and December 2015.
Participants will get the chance to intensify already established contacts and networks with German
partners by visiting German festivals, conferences, exhibitions or initiatives.
The main goal of this program is to provide insights into the German cultural and urban scene for
young members of the art community, grass-roots activists, heads of cultural initiatives and cultural
managers in order to facilitate exchange between international partners.
Participants:
 professionals, who are working in initiatives and projects in the realm of culture and civil
society
 Professional experience: at least one year
 Age: 22-40 years
 Good knowledge of English or German
 Valid Schengen visa prefered
The selected applicants will sign a contract with the Goethe-Institut, specifying the mutual
obligations. The importance of the initial intention in the context of the goals of the project has to be
made clear.
The participants undertake to provide the Goethe-Institut with a report on their trip as well as with
photos and press material, if available. They will also report on their trip and their experiences at an
alumni meeting end of the year.

Content of the grant offered by the Goethe-Institut (maximum reimbursement 1275 €):
Return flight to Germany:
max. 500 €
Up to 6 hotel nights:
max. 480 € (80 € per night incl. breakfast)
Airport transfers und public local transportation: max. 125 €
Up to 7 days per diem:
max. 134,40 € (max. 19,20 € per day)
Travel insurance if applicable:
max. 30 €
Upon presentation of receipts the Goethe-Institut will reimburse the awardee either in cash or bank
transfer. Expenses without receipts cannot be reimbursed. In justified cases, a partial advance
installment may be possible.
