and the life of the candle will not be shortened. The Candles - An organisation
to enlighten lives of the neglected and downtrodden sections of the society with
an altruistic concern.
“The Candles” is a registered-REG NO.145/2014 Non Governmental
Organization, placed in Chennai is working in all arenas of life with a
humanitarian approach. It was initiated by Angelin Prince, a Professional Social
worker and an alumnus of Stella Maris College, with a heart of compassion
towards the deprived and the vulnerable.

GENESIS
“THE CANDLES” was inaugurated by a top bureaucrat from Govt of
Tamilnadu, Late Dr.Shanthini Kapoor I.A.S., Principal Secretary in the
Dept of Social Reforms and Special programme Implementation and
lighted up by our revered well wishers from various departments on 9 th
August-2014.

Share Your Care: Distribution of food packets once in every month to the
street dwellers and donating blankets (in the month of December).
Rapha Centre for Elderly Care: Centre for dementia and day care for elders.
Thangaraj Memorial Centre for Substance Addiction & Rehabilitation in
Guduvancherry, Kanchipuram Dt.
Velicham: Free counselling by a Professional Social Worker specialised in
Medical & Psychiatry at Kilpauk Medical College & Hospital, to the out
patients and in patients in the Dept of Psychiatry, Neonatal ICU, Pre & Post
natal wards.
School Counselling for the students at C.S.I. Bain School.
Peroli – Village adoption: Adopted Kachirayanatham village in Cuddalore
District. Planned to start a community library, education for elders, awareness
programme on health, organic farming; distribution of free sanitary napkins to
the women, vocational training and cottage level business for widows /deserted
women in the community.
Varnam: Beautifying the educational institutional walls and deserted walls to
bring in awareness on various themes to sensitize the community. Arts speaks a
lot rather than voices.....
