Duration of matches shall be:
1. Year 7 & Year 8 - 80 minutes or 7 equal innings.
2. Intermediate & Senior - 90 minutes or 7 equal innings.
(Game times/length may be altered according to the number of entries received.)

Baseball is conducted under the rules of International Baseball unless otherwise stated.
The SSV ‘General Conditions of Competition’ regarding the ‘Order Off Rule’ will be strictly enforced.
1. The ‘9 Batter’ rule applies to any one innings.
2. The ‘10 run rule’ will apply after five completed innings. (If one team is more than 10 runs
ahead they will be declared the winner)
3. The catcher may use a designated runner.
4. If at the completion of even innings from the call of side out there remains more than 5
minutes before the scheduled completion of the game, a further innings shall be played.
5. Pitchers may be used for the following maximum number of pitches in a day:
Year 7 & 8- 80, Intermediates- 90 and Seniors- 110.
6. The scorer must indicate to both coaches when a pitcher has 15 pitches to go.
7. A completed score sheet WITH pitch count must be handed in for recording purposes to the
Convener. If and when a maximum number has been reached the pitcher can complete the
hitter and then must be removed from the mound. He can continue to play throughout the
game and the day provided he does not pitch or catch.
8. A player cannot be used as both the pitcher and catcher in the same game.
9. Year 7 pitchers are not permitted to throw curve balls.

The Convener must do all that is possible to determine a result. He/she has the power to:
1. Order play during a scheduled break.
2. Extend play for up to 30 minutes beyond the scheduled finishing time.
3. Shorten the length of any game.
If a team is late for the start of their match for reasons beyond their control and the team
communicates this information to the convener beforehand, the convener will try to accommodate
the team as best he/she can.

If a team is more than 10 minutes late without notice or communication or in the convener’s
opinion their lateness makes the draw impracticable, then the late team will be penalised one run
for every 10 minutes late, or part thereof.
The maximum number of players to be used in one day is 16.
All players must be attired in matching tops, same colour pants and socks (tracksuit pants may be
worn, however shorts are not advised).
Metal Cleats are not allowed in Year 7, Year 8 or Intermediate competitions.
Student base coaches must wear a helmet.
All batters and base-runners must wear approved helmets.
The catcher must wear a helmet, mask, throat, chest protector and shin pads.
Players not correctly dressed will not be permitted to compete.
Competing teams must hand a completed team sheet to the convener on the day of competition
prior to the start of the first round of competition.
This team sheet must include player’s uniform numbers.
Competing teams are required to provide a competent scorer.
Competing teams are required to provide:
1. One spare genuine leather ball (in reasonable condition).
2. A set of bases.
3. All playing and protective equipment, including bats, which must be official baseball bats.
A new competition Baseball will be supplied by the Grampians Region for each level of competition.

Each school must provide its own first aid kit; including ice packs.
If at the end of time or 7 innings, runs are equal, then a draw will be declared.
If a result has to be determined (eg. Final) then extra innings will be played to find a winner.
If two teams are tied on points at the end of the round robin, the winner of the match between
these two teams will assume the higher position. If more than two teams are tied on points,
percentage will be calculated (total runs for divided by total runs against multiplied by 100) to
determine the winner.
