Create an Advertisement: APP Unit 8 Project
You will design an advertisement for any product of your choice. Your advertisement must be
ORIGINAL (you cannot copy an ad/commercial that has already been done!) Your
advertisement must play to people’s motivations and emotions, using and citing the theories
we’ve discussed in this unit.
Elements to be included:
- Biological/physiological motivation
- Experiential / social motivation
- Emotional influence
For each element:
- Use and cite an accepted theory of motivation / emotion, and apply it to a reason
people would purchase your product.
Your final advertisement can be in the format of your choice:
- Print Ad
An advertisement meant to convey the message in print, such as for a newspaper or
magazine. It must be in color.
- Sketch Storyboard
The storyboard (like a comic strip) that would be used prior to filming an advertisement.
It would have illustrations of the key scenes, plus descriptions of the action and dialogue
underneath. Illustrations must be in color.
- Picture Storyboard
See the criteria for the Sketch Storyboard above. Instead of illustrations, the scenes
would be depicted through photographs you stage.
- Video
A final video advertisement, such as for TV.
