Purpose of role

Responsible for supporting and updating Stonewater’s
performance data systems.
Working with business stakeholders to enhance
Stonewater’s MIS / Business Intelligence capabilities
and output.
Interpreting business requirements, creating and
maintaining high level solutions.
External: Maintain good working relationship with the MIS
provider, consultants, other registered providers.
Key relationships
Internal: Maintain close links with IT, Executive Directors and
senior management team, and colleagues in the
Innovation and Performance team,
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assisting the Senior Business Intelligence Developer in the design,
development and delivery of Management Information System (MIS)
solutions, using Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools for Stonewater.
2. Creating such solutions that meet both internal stakeholder and external
regulator requirements to provide performance management, operational and
statutory information.
3. Assist in the development, implementation and delivery of more enhanced
KPIs for the newly formed organisation.
4. Perform day to day management and maintenance of the data warehouses
(DW) and MIS solutions, looking for ways to optimise performance and
efficiency.
5. Provide end-user support for the MIS solutions developed and BI tools used,
collaborating with IT colleagues (as required).

6. Monitoring of the MIS / BI servers, performing preventative maintenance,
ensuring that they are functional, that data has been refreshed and backed
up. Collaborating as required with IT and external suppliers to ensure that the
servers and reporting tools are kept updated and that end-users have access.
7. Review / take technical specifications from internal / external stakeholders,
perform detailed analysis of requirements, source system data and model,
script, design and produce visualised solutions.
8. Test solutions, assist in defect resolution and record the results. Work with
colleagues and stakeholders on user acceptance testing, roll out and go live.
9. Ensure new/enhanced solutions are documented in a clear and concise way
and adhere to formal change management procedures.
10. Collaborate with HR Learning & Development colleagues to ensure when
MIS solutions are rolled out or changed, that relevant user guides and training
material is in place.
11. Attend relevant meetings, user groups / conferences, keeping abreast of new
developments to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the MIS /
Business Intelligence systems.
12. On a day to day basis this role will include:
 Ongoing MIS / BI solution development e.g. report writing, scripting,
creating and modifying dashboards, data sourcing / mining and
cleansing.
 Ad hoc SQL development.
 Reviewing / taking technical specifications from internal / external
stakeholders.
 Monitoring / Maintenance of MIS / BI solutions and servers.
 Testing, documenting solutions and assisting in the production of
training material / guides.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and relevant required experience

QlikView development knowledge and expertise (e.g. QlikView server
architecture, scripting/building QVD’s and QVW’s, ability to write complicated,
yet efficient, SQL queries and stored procedures to source data for QlikView
applications, knowledge of ETL processes / data transforming and visualising
solutions through dashboard design).

SQL development and SQL server database administration.

The ability to produce reporting solutions of the highest accuracy and visual
impact using MIS / BI tools.
Specific role skills and abilities

QlikView NPrinting knowledge ideal.

Knowledge of formal database architecture and design.

A proven background in developing visual MIS / BI solutions using tools such
as QlikView or Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Microsoft
Analysis/Reporting Services, Corvu etc.

Experience in sourcing data from disparate systems with a good
understanding of their data models and ETL processes.

Ability to participate in a collaborative work environment.

Good consultation, negotiation and influencing skills

Ability to understand and appreciate operational, safety & quality processes.

Exposure to Windows based infrastructure and applications such as MS
Word, Excel.

Knowledge and experience of scripting languages ideally QlikView’s and SQL,
but others such as MS Excel (e.g. VBA and macro function language).

Able to demonstrate an awareness of the Data Protection and Information
Acts.
