JOB DESCRIPTION
Staff Nurse RN2 / Orthopedic Nurse / Safety Liaison (Operating room)
Job Summary: Under general supervision, provides professional nursing services and patient care in variety of
inpatient settings. Follows established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,
intervention, and evaluation. Ensures adherence to unit or department policies, nursing procedures, standards
and practices.




















Generally performs all the responsibilities assigned either as a Scrub Nurse or a Circulating Nurse in a
certain procedure.
Prepares all necessary equipments, machines and supplies needed for certain procedure.
Assists Surgeons in different specialties and prepares and anticipates all the necessary supply, machines
and equipments needed.
As a patient advocate, Observe and performs the International Patient Safety Goals.
Provide safety and assistance necessary for the patient, and all of the Surgical Team.
Monitors, requests and maintain all the supplies stocks needed by the Unit.
Supervise and maintained the overall cleanliness, sterility, and functions of different machines,
equipments and supplies in Operating Suites.
As assigned mainly in ORTHOPEDIC Surgery, assists surgeons on different procedures.
Monitors, request and do inventory of stocks and implants for orthopedic cases.
As the Unit Safety Liaison to orient, educate all newly hired personnel/staff inside the operating room.
Disseminate information of any new development regarding safety management within the Unit.
Overall in-charge of monitoring and checking of its function of safety devices in the Unit and report to
Safety Department for any concerns.
Conduct Mock Drills for Internal and External Disaster, and execute preparedness plan either within the
unit or hospital wide exercise, under the supervision of Safety Officer.
Attends meetings and seminars regarding safety management.
Demonstrate competency in carrying out duties and responsibilities in designated area.
Ensure infection control by applying principles of aseptic techniques.
Recognizes safety hazards and initiate appropriate, preventive and corrective actions.
Cooperate with other members of the unit.
Performs effectively in stressful and emergency situations.
Identifies necessary procedures in the preparation of a patient due for surgery.




Demonstrates an understanding of the surgical procedures by anticipating the needs of OR team
members and by organizing work efficiently on the best interest of patient’s safety and welfare.
Participate in making decisions that demonstrates willingness to collaborate with members of the OR
team to ensure positive outcome.
Develop flexibility, adaptability, manual dexterity and self-reliance by acquiring knowledge of all aspects
of the department and functions of all personnel.
Exert a conscientious effort to carry out all duties accurately and integrity, in compliance with the
hospital policy and recognized standard of practice.
Charge Nurse
 Assess, evaluate and direct nursing activities on an assigned shift to provide quality care to patients in
compliance with prescribed standards and in conjunction with nursing management.
 Supervise and perform nursing assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of
patient care on the unit.
 Work in conjunction with nursing management to coordinate adequate unit staffing for the assigned
shift.
 Participate with unit or clinic nursing management in interviewing, hiring, completing evaluations and
performing disciplinary counseling of staff.
 Supervise the work of professional and paraprofessional nursing staff.
 Work with nursing management to identify staff development needs and to implement continuing
education programs.
 Assist nursing management in planning unit or clinic budget.
 Interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff.
 Participate in staff meetings.
 Coordinate with ancillary support departments to coordinate total patient care.
 Maintain and evaluate records.
 Perform related duties as assigned.
Hospital Description
The Security Forces Hospital - Dammam is a 145 bed capacity hospital which primarily caters
employees and its immediate relatives that seeks and in need of Medical, Surgical, Dental attention and its
overall welfare of an individual. It is situated in eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
As a primary healthcare destination in the eastern region for the MOI employee and relatives, it also
meets the international health care quality standards for patient care and organizational management namely,
Joint Commission International(JCI) from February 2014 – February 2017, Then add up also the local
accreditation achieved, The Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions(CBAHI), which
passed the survey process and succeeded in implementing the National Standards in quality, accredited for 3
years, until February 2016.
This shows how committed the management and each department to meet high standard and quality
healthcare services to its client. And still continue to implement and maintain its integrity and passion for high
standard of patient care.
The University of Perpetual Help DALTA Medical Center (UPHDMC) is a 250-bed capacity
tertiary hospital situated in the heart of Las Pinas City in the southern part of Metro Manila. It has a vision of
