Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative Program Manager
The Alice Ferguson Foundation (AFF) seeks a dynamic, proven and environmentally focused professional to
provide oversight to a dynamic team that approaches the issue of trash though education, enforcement, policy
and advocacy as well as market-based approaches. AFF is an environmental educational non-profit focused
on connecting people to the natural world, sustainable agricultural practices and the cultural heritage of their
local watershed through education, stewardship and advocacy in the Washington DC metro region.
Position Summary/Requirements
The Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative seeks to address the trash problem with a comprehensive,
watershed-wide approach. The incumbent will coordinate all efforts, from challenging regional leaders to
work collaboratively, bring together key stakeholders to research and explore alternative, cost-effective
solutions that have long term impact, and improve general education and awareness in order to shift
individual behaviors. The Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, annual Trash Summit, Trash Free Schools
Project and Trash Free Facilities Program are key elements of the Trash Free Potomac Watershed Initiative.
Successful candidates will be self-starters with a demonstrated ability to create and post online content; draft
and layout basic printed materials including outreach material, advertisements, activities, newsletters and
annual reports; and a proven track record in media relations. A strong commitment to the environment and
an understanding of the importance of communication as it relates to fundraising is a plus. Excellent oral,
written, and solid relationship building skills are essential. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
Suite and Adobe Creative Suite are required. Experience working with HTML, a WordPress website, and
Constant Contact is desired. Applicants should have a relevant Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 2-4
years of experience.
