Hello Everyone,
First thank you to all who have participated in our open gyms this last month. It has been very fun
meeting your girls and seeing their progress already!
Unfortunately due to a lack of interest in our last open gyms, we will not be offering a 7th grade
team this year. We do not believe putting girls of very differing levels on the same team benefits
everyone. They will be welcome at skills nights though, so if you are interested in 12 sessions on
Wednesday nights. These will be $15 per night and will be focused on developing strong
fundamental skills. 7th graders will be welcome to preregister for the 10 open slots for the 6:307:30 time slot and 10 open spots for 7:30-8:30, preregistration for these skills nights will be posted
on www.jrcorecrusaders.com once teams are decided.
A little background- tonight St. Dominic has districts that decide if we go to Sectionals on
Saturday. Our ability to have our tryouts on Saturday was out due to the possibility of Sectionals
(Sectionals decide who goes to state). Sunday earlier in the day is out because there is an open
house at Dominic from 10-1:30. There will be tables and things in the gym so our availability didn't
open up until 3, hence our try out times. I called Gateway (governing body for club volleyball in St.
Louis) and they said we must have our players commit by 7 on Sunday evening, no exceptions.
We are very sorry if this inconveniences you as parents/players, this is our first year and was
definitely a rookie mistake on our part. There have been so many changes since we were in the
club scene and this is one of them.
With all of that said, we will be posting teams following tryouts. They will be on a poster board out
in the lobby by tryout number. Please be patient with us getting them posted following due to the
number of girls. For the 5th and 6th grade teams- teams will be set and you will know which team
you made. For the 4th graders, you will know on Sunday whether you made it. However, there is a
possibility for 2 4th grade teams and we will not specify which team you made on Sunday. We
want to give the girls an opportunity to be coached and give them a few weeks before deciding
which team (Navy or Carolina) they will be on based on skill. at 7 o'clock to commit to our club.
This means you will need to call in your confirmation.

Our practice times will be on Monday nights starting at 6:30-9. Each team will have a time slot
within that time frame.
Skills nights will be on Wednesday nights will be 6:30-7:30 for 4th and one 5th grade team and
7:30-8:30 for the other 5th grade team and our 6th grade. We will drill fundamentals and work on
individual skills (passing, setting, attacking, serving). Skills night is included in your club fees.
These will be 1 hour long.
We are also offering skills nights to 10 pre-registered girls per time slot. Meaning even if you do
not make the team you are still welcome to attend one of these nights (4th-7th grade) for a fee that
will be $10 per night. These trainings will be on a pre-registration basis for 10 open spots per time
slot. Pre-registration information will be included on our website after teams are decided.
Tryouts are $15 and will be held at the following times:
4-5th grade: 3:30-5:00
6th grade: 5:30-7:00
Make up try out night will be Monday Oct. 26th 5:30-6:30**
**You must pre-register your daughter no later than 5pm on Saturday. Teams will be decided on
Sunday so Monday's tryout will be more difficult at that point. Please email us with a subject line:
Monday Night Tryout and give me the name and age of your daughter. Thank you!
You will need your waiver signed and filled out as well as our tryout form. Your daughters tryout
number will need to be written in the corner once she is given a number on Sunday. I've attached
those to this email.
Our MANDATORY team meetings will be Wednesday 10/28 at St. Dominic at 7 o'clock. This will be
your opportunity to meet the other teammates families and coaching staff. This is also when we
will order uniforms. Each girl will be required to purchase 1 uniform, 1 bag, and 1 ball to bring to
all practices and tournaments.
Whoa, that's a lot but I really want to get all the info out there :)
