FHC Community Education Foundation, Information and Application
The FHC Community Education Foundation was created to foster and encourage members of the
FHC family and the surrounding community to seek post high school graduation educational opportunities,
including not only four year college programs but also two year, vocational, and shorter career specific
programs, including nontraditional (i.e. part time) pursuit of degrees. This year, the Foundation will award
12 scholarships in both the fall and spring semesters. Qualified applicants should be enrolled in a degree
program at a recognized institution of higher education; be from the community of FHC, which includes
children of employees, customers, vendors as well as other area residents; and be able to demonstrate
their understanding of the value of education to their personal goals and to their local community. Each
scholarship is earmarked for books and related expenses in the amount of $1,000. Funds will be awarded
directly to the student, ensuring that they will be tax free to the family and will not prohibit the student
from receiving other scholarship funds.
Awards will be based on financial need and merit, as well as content of an essay, quality of the
essay and academic standing. Parents, scholastic, and vendor references will be contacted when
appropriate. Although these are grant awards, the Foundation expects recipients to give back to their
communities in the future, either in a monetary capacity or by donating time so as to create a supportive
environment in their resident communities.
