Hurricanes.
Introduction
Hurricanes are also known as cyclones and typhoons.
They are a deadly, devastating, natural disasters that
destroy families and anything in its path.
How hurricanes are formed.
Hurricanes gather warm
heat and energy through
contact with warm ocean
waters. The speed of
hurricanes can move up to 420
kilometres per hour. Hurricanes
can usually last up to a week.
Where do hurricanes occur?
Hurricanes can occur all over the world.
Mostly in coastal areas such as America,
starting from the eastern Pacific Ocean
and Atlantic Ocean.
The Effects of the disaster
Hurricane Katrina led to injury, deaths and destruction
of buildings and property’s. The picture to the left was

What precautions can you take before
the disaster strikes?
Get recourses such as
first aid kit torch with
charged batteries. Tools
pet’s family food and
water. Evacuation plan
Warning sings show that the disaster is about to
happen.
Weather satellites up in space send back information
to the scientists in the lab.
Famous hurricane that has occurred
Hurricane Katrina occurred on the 29th August, 2005 in
gulf coast of U.S.A. It was a category 5 storm (the
intensity for category 5 is rate incredible with wind
speeds of 418 to 509 kilometres per hour of which
causes strong buildings to be thrown into the air and
destroyed. The bark is torn off trees). It led to flooding
and the deaths of 1,833 and it left thousands of other
people homeless.
Conclusion
Hurricanes are one of the most devastating natural
disasters’ which destroys and demolishes anything in
its path. We can’t control natural disasters, but we can
learn about them and prepare for them.
