The Music of the Underworld, The Tangled Web,
Medusa & Athena and Perseus & Medusa
Writing
Began new non- genre specific unit. We
immersed ourselves in short stories that were
realistic fiction, fantasies and informational
texts. We than chose our genre and
eventually our topic.
Math
Began Unit 4: multiplicative comparisons,
multiplying 10s, 100s, and 1000s, estimating
products, multiplying 4 digits by 1 digit.
Social Studies
No social studies this week
Science
Began Matter, mass & mixtures unit: review
3 types of matter, measuring with a
balance, mass and volume.

A Note from the 4th Grade Teachers
 In science we began our mixtures and solutions lab and are
still in need of trail mix supplies (pretzels, chex ceral, etc.) and
powered lemonade. If you are able to send in any of these
items we would greatly appreciate it 
 Parent/Teacher conference notes went home today. They
will be scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 28th 4:30-8pm and
Thursday, Oct. 29th 8:30-8pm. Please choose the time that
works best for you and return the note quickly. We will work
to accommodate your schedule and plan times closely with
siblings’ teachers.
 Next week is Socktober! Students are encouraged to
participate by bringing in packages of new socks or
donating 25 cents each day that they participate. They may
pay a quarter a day or $1.25 for the whole week. All
proceeds go to United Way. The class that collects the most
$ wins an extra recess! Our school goal is 725$, we can do it!
Monday: Shoes Off Day – wear shoes off in the classroom
Tuesday: Mismatch Sock Day – wear mismatched socks
Wednesday: Slippers Day – wear slippers in the classroom
Thursday: Sports Day – wear sports socks or favorite sports team socks
Friday: Crazy Sock Contest – wear your craziest socks
