Terms and Conditions
1 Interpretation and variation
1.1 The club reserves the right to vary and revoke these Terms & Conditions from time to time and in addition to make, vary and revoke any
bye-laws which it may consider necessary or desirable for the regulation of the internal affairs of the Club and the conduct of members. Any
such changes will be notified to members and, until revoked, are binding on members.
2 Acceptance & commencement of membership
2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, when an applicant has signed a Membership Agreement and the Club has received his/her membership fee and
weekly payment he/she shall become a member of the Club with which he/she has registered and shall be entitled to all the privileges of
his/her membership of the Club.
2.2 Acceptance of an application for membership is in the absolute discretion of the Club.
2.3 Membership fees and weekly fees are reviewed annually by the club committee; any changes to fees or subscriptions will be notified to
members in writing no later than 10 days before the change takes effect.
2.4 Membership fees are due in September each year, however anyone wishing to be become a member of the club during the course of a
year will pay a pro-rated membership fee based on the number of whole months that have passed in that year.
2.5 It is a condition of membership that the member becomes affiliated to British Fencing prior to the

3 Cancellation and variation
3.1 A member may cancel his membership at any time by written request to the Club Chairperson, giving 1 clear calendar month’s notice of
the desired cancellation date. All membership cards must be returned to the Club by such date.
3.2 Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
3.3 The Club reserves the right to expel from a Club, suspend for a specific period or refuse to renew the membership of any member
whose conduct is or may, in the Club’s reasonable opinion, be injurious to the character of the Club or amounts to a breach of the Terms &
Conditions or where such expulsion is otherwise in the interests of the other members of the Club. Any member so expelled shall forfeit all
privileges to Club membership and shall not be entitled to any repayment of his Membership fees for any period during which his
membership is suspended.
4 Limitation of liability
4.1 The Club cannot be held responsible for any service or equipment not being available for whatever reason. The Club reserves the right
to make alterations to the type of facilities provided, without notice and in its absolute discretion and the Club shall not be liable for any loss
occasioned by such alterations except in so far as such loss is by law incapable of exclusion.
4.2 It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is capable of undergoing a routine of training provided by any session which
he/she follows or class which he/she attends. Members accept the risk of injury from performing training exercises and are advised to
consult their doctor prior to beginning any session or class.
4.3 The Club accepts no liability for loss or damage to property of members or guests nor for injury to members or guests on the Club
premises or in the car park except in so far as such loss, damage or injury is by law incapable of exclusion.
4.4 It is the member’s responsibility to ensure to ensure that any of their personal equipment and/or clothing that is used at the club
complies with current British Fencing rules. Copies of the current rules are available from the club or from the British Fencing Website.
5 Membership cards /numbers
5.1 Membership cards will not be issued.
5.2 Each member will be given a unique membership number. This number may be requested when ordering lessons or other dealings with
the club.
6 Use of facilities
6.1 A member is entitled to use the Club’s facilities providing always that the Club may at any time withdraw all or part of its facilities for any
period or periods and with notice, where practicable, in connection with any cleaning, repair, alteration or maintenance work or for reasons
beyond the control of the Club.
7 Coaching
7.1 All coaching is controlled by the Club and should be arranged with its knowledge and consent. Coaching is undertaken by qualified
coaches appointed by the Club and no other coaching is permitted unless advance permission is gained from the club Chairperson.
Members are personally responsible for paying professionals for any lessons booked.
8 General
8.1 Members and guests must at all times observe any Club byelaws and guidelines which may be notified to them from time to time and
are requested to comply with any reasonable directions which the management of a Club may issue to ensure the smooth operation of each
Club for the convenience of all members and guests.
8.2 The club is committed to and supports the principle of equal opportunities. The club opposes all forms of unlawful or unfair direct or
indirect discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or
religious beliefs. We believe that it is in the club’s best interests and all members and guests to ensure that individuals are treated fairly. Any
members or guests not acting in accordance with these principles may be expelled from the club.
8.3 Data Protection; Personal details of Newcastle Fencing Club’s members or visitors are not disclosed to any third parties.
