We are seeking an individual with strong technical skills in software design, programming and analysis,
to join our team at our San Luis Obispo office. This position involves database, computational and
graphical programming to provide real time energy efficiency analytics through VaCom’s
EnergyDashboard® web-based performance monitoring service. Your responsibilities will include:

Develop, deploy and maintain applications of VaCom’s performance monitoring service
(EnergyDashboard), including:
o
Assist with maintenance of database, software programs and data communications from
customer-located control systems and data servers.

o
Provide user support related to individual configurations, data communications from sites
and IT coordination to allow user access to web server.
o
Maintain various custom programs interfaces and communications modules to extract and
transmit data from various control systems and PC HMI applications.
o
Configure applications for new customer sites.
As a key team member, design and implement a new expanded and improved performance
monitoring platform, including:
o
Write a software project plan with functional requirements and examples, flow charts and
design/management tools that will be used through the design and development process.
o
Develop an architecture allowing modular development, maintenance and deployment,
consistent with the technical aspects of the target mechanical systems, energy flows and
analytical methods, such that monitoring applications can be configured by nonprogrammer staff.
o
Identify and test software and tools to meet anticipated analytical and functional needs
within the design architecture.

web site with a flexible and user-engaging interface.

We are seeking an individual with strong experience in the startup and commissioning of industrial
control systems. Responsibilities include:




Startup, test and fine-tune industrial control systems, primarily for refrigeration systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical, network, control and electrical problems
Survey existing industrial plants and related control systems
Manage field installation projects including schedules land subcontractors.
Required Capabilities

Two years of mechanical or electrical trade school

Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical (fluid) system fundamentals

Experience with 480V motors to 500 HP, VFD’s, control circuits, PLC controls, networks, sensors,
meters and calibration methods
Able to identify and terminate field power and controls wiring.
Ability to read and understand ladder diagrams and schematics
Ability to analyze, document, modify and maintain complex control systems
Intermediate or better PC hardware and software skills
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, programmers, staff engineers, and plant
operators
Self-motivation and able to work independently or as part of a team
NEC code knowledge

We are seeking an individual with a proven ability to manage field service operations. You will direct
and manage VaCom’s field service business with complete accountability for P&L, sales, and operations
planning. Your activities will include:




Respond to customer requests for service either remotely or onsite by analyzing electromechanical
equipment and controls to find and address root cause.
Coordinate service team to respond to customer calls and partner with subcontractors to resolve
technical issues.
Develop service proposals in response to service requests and proactively propose service support
aimed at increasing system productivity.
Manage field service tech schedules and ongoing training and development

We are seeking an experienced individual with proven capabilities in design, programming and
implementation of industrial control systems for process-related applications to join our team.

You will be responsible for the design and application of PLC-based control systems, typically used on
large food plants and industrial refrigeration systems, including both standardized programs and custom
applications, including:






Work with team members on overall control system design, functional definitions and HMI design to
meet customer expectations and unique equipment control requirements, while incorporating
VaCom standard control strategies and integration methods.
Work with team members to develop hardware requirements and control panel schematics
including VFDs, PLCs, communications networks and device connections.
Develop detailed programming plans and project schedules.
Program PLC and HMI software for VaCom standard programs and individual projects, including
adaptation of standard programs, one-time custom programs, testing of programs, and complete
documentation.
Provide start-up and commissioning assistance, training and ongoing customer support, for projects
including industrial refrigeration systems, warehouses and food plants.
Control systems may include Allen-Bradley, GE, Opto22 and other PLCs, coupled with Rockwell,
Wonderware and GE HMI platforms.
Required Capabilities










Minimum of two years experience in industrial control projects
Experience with Allen-Bradley and Opto 22 PLC programming
Able to produce and understand process schematics, flow charts and wiring diagrams
Proficient with workplace software such as Excel, Word, email, and remote access
Understanding of networks, PC operating systems, and Internet communications
Able to manage time and set priorities, and to complete projects within schedule
Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
Able to travel for start-ups and service support
