Would you recommend this practice to family and friends?
It has generally a good caring group of staff
Good service but long waiting times
In the past the practice was first class. Now it is good but follow up, i.e. hospital clinics is
terrible. I had to consult my MP to be seen.
We are incredibly lucky to have such dedicated professional, caring staff at this practice.
The occasional wait is a price worth paying for the consideration we are each individually
given. Also, the doctors are aware of the wider health issues – mental as well as physical
Friendly, background knowledge
Because we need to keep this Health Centre open for our future generation’s health
Could not ask for a better service
I think for its size and capacity it’s doing a great job
There is nowhere else in Ambleside!! We get a good service/care
I have always found Ambleside Health Centre very very good and would recommend them
to everyone
Everyone is friendly and helpful
Ease of making appointments, prefer to see regular GP but no qualms if can’t, very friendly
staff throughout
Only my 2nd visit and so far impressed with staff and ease of appointments. Needed
emergency appointment only 3 days after registration and this was very easy to make.
Friendly and helpful reception. Confidence in the doctors
Only ever had positive experiences here. Family all well cared for
Been with practice for over 30 years. Overall pleased with care
I have lots of trust and confidence in my doctor; the nurses are great and reception as well.
Nothing seems too much trouble for any of them
Have been with the practice for 47 years. Doctors know us well
Well managed Medical Centre
This practice has been very good to us as a family for a lot of years. No problems at all
Always helpful and willing to listen and to accommodate patients when urgent. Also when I
had Mum here very helpful to her
I have been with this practice for many years and have found everyone extremely helpful
and efficient
I feel I am cared for excellently and the service is brilliant
Pleasant front of house staff and good medical care
Friendly staff, always get help and get appointments when I need them
I am proud to be a patient at Ambleside Health Centre. I feel that the reception staff, physio
and the medical team are helpful and professional and I am always treated with care
Always friendly, helpful and try to fit you in ASAP
I find the Practice as a whole very helpful and kind
Very happy with the practice
Difficulty of seeing your own doctor it can be a three week wait
Trying to tell the receptionist exactly what symptoms you have and then having to repeat it
all again to a doctor 30 minutes later
The total lack of continuity – any need for a further follow up appointment cannot be made
with the same doctor it is a totally fragmented service
We lived in Ambleside for 12 years and are concerned at how the practice has deteriorated
over the last 3 -4 years. Prior to this was very well run. Our concerns stem mainly from the
part-time commitment of some of the doctors. We would hope for full time doctors at
least some of the time. This was the case prior to the last four to five years. It is very
difficult to see the same doctor unless you are prepared to wait 2/3 weeks; not helped as
all the doctors appear to be part time.
I have found all the staff very polite and pleasant to speak to and consult with. I have not
felt my symptoms and health complaints have been listened to properly, the diagnosis
checked and a second opinion obtained when required.
I have always been very impressed by everything about this surgery. The reception staff are
lovely and very helpful, the doctors and nurses couldn’t do more for you and it’s easier to
get an appointment than anywhere else I’ve experienced
What was good about the consultation?
Polite doctors and nurses who were good at reassuring
I saw Dr. Davies recently about the results of an angiogram. He was thorough and helpful
Interested, listening, communicative, relaxed
It was held in Grasmere, the doctor was on time and the consultation was unhurried and
productive
Came in for an emergency. It was wonderful. The receptionist, nurse and doctor were very
caring
All staff are kind and considerate. All are concerned with issues that I’m not going to see
them at the time
When bringing 2 year old always get a very quick appointment time which I appreciate
When I get to see the GP of my choice things are very good. Referrals and back up services
are awful. I had to wait 2.5 years
Put at ease, knows medical history, shows understanding of problems and listens
Very good listener, very calm, asked lots of questions to try to find out what the underlying
problem might be. Very polite/pleasant manner
Everyone listens and considers everything that is said
Thorough, not rushed, very satisfactory
Had emergency appointment which despite a long wait – nearly one hour after appointment
time, went well. Kept patient up to date with info about waiting time.
A sense of concern and lack of rush
Dr. Baqai was very good and made me feel at ease and didn’t make me feel rushed
Dr. Stanley listened to what I had to say
Got an appointment same day – doctor’s referral to specialist came within 10 days
Seeing the same doctor each time is important to me
Friendly nurse. Receptionist very helpful in trying to book appointments at time I can make
I was very concerned about a medical issue which keeps recurring. The doctor listened to
me, asked questions and shared my concern. I was prescribed drugs to help and felt
reassured that I could telephone or return to the surgery if things didn’t improve
Always thorough and considerate
The nurse listened to me, was kind, helpful and patient
Unhurried, caring
Doctor very friendly and reassuring. Felt given the time needed
What could be done better?
Make it easier to see a specific doctor especially if it is for a follow up of previous
consultation
Nothing, everyone was wonderful
Sometimes have to wait up to 45 minutes past my appointment
Sometimes appointments offered not always to see a doctor – only nurse. Not always as
helpful, but always made aware of this when booking
Perhaps chase the hospital. The Health Centre is usually good but follow up is awful
More doctors
If possible, if I have 2 related visits can they be done together
Nothing Dr. Stanley was brilliant!
Improve being seen at appointed time
Waiting times
In my view and experience, just keep on doing what you are doing so well already
Be on time with appointment
Time waiting in the waiting room
I can wait for up to an hour regularly to see the doctor
Have always been very satisfied with treatment from Ambleside Health Centre – staff and
doctors, nurses etc always very helpful
Sometimes you do have to wait for an appointment but for the service you receive it’s
worth the wait. Plus if the doctor has an emergency other patients are told there might be a
wait. This I find very polite and manners go a long way. Than you all for all of your hard
work
Prior notice of closure for training would be advisable – notices more prominent e.g. at
reception, waiting room and front door BIG!
The TV screen to announce surgery appointments is a great improvement on verbal
announcements, especially for deaf patients
Keep doing what you are doing (you do it rather well)
They are always there for me and my family! Thank you
Reception staff – a few are great but some are nosey and rude over the phone and takes
AGES to follow up appointment – other than that, great!
Staff always helpful as are the doctors
I have been a patient at this practice since my student days in Ambleside and my husband
and children are / have been patients. We never had cause for concern and, even though
we live a few miles away, are more than happy to travel in for the quality of care we receive.
Thank you!
A drinks machine would be nice as I have waited over an hour on occasion
Other feedback
There seems to be some overlap between the practice diabetic service and the hospital
diabetic service. I am happy that the practice does the necessary checks, but I go to the
hospital service for advice.
