Employment of Graduates
To the best of our knowledge, 100% of graduates in recent cohorts have obtained
employment as physical therapist assistants within 6 months of passing the NPTE for
PTA’s (licensure exam).
Job announcements are posted online through the California Physical Therapy
Association website and other sources. Students often find employment in settings
where they have completed clinical affiliations. In addition the program regularly
forwards job announcements to recent graduates via email distribution lists.
Types of employment Settings of PTA Graduates (surveys of 2012-2014 grads)
Acute Care ~7%
Outpatient Settings ~35%

The program has a clinical education agreement (contract) with >300 sites. The
majority of sites are in Northern California, especially the greater Sacramento area. Not
all sites accept students each year.
Of the clinical instructors who worked with students from SCC in 2014-2015 44%
were Credentialed Clinical Instructors and 9% held some type of certification of
advanced clinical skill.
The program has a range of clinical sites to provide students with inpatient and
outpatient experience. The variety of clinical sites is approximately as follows:
• Outpatient 50%
• Acute Care 19%
• Skilled Nursing 16 %
• Acute Care with Outpatient 6%
• Rehabilitation 3%
• Pediatric Inpatient 3%
• Pediatric Outpatient 3%
