The National Party – Presidential Candidate Biography

Jay Goodman

Born on January 27th, 1960 in Newburgh, New York, Jay Goodman grew up in a middle class family as the youngest of three children. His father, a chemistry teacher at Newburgh High

School, and his mother, a librarian, taught Jay the value of education at an early age. That is why

Jay worked at a local coffee shop during his college years in order to pay for his tuition. It is also the reason that Jay will prioritize improving America’s schools as President. He graduated from

Amherst College in 1983 with a degree in business.

While working at the coffee shop, Jay realized that he could deliver a better product at a more reasonable price. In 1984, one year after graduating from college, he opened the first Goodman

Coffee Co. outlet in New York City. As a former small business owner, Jay plans on making it easier to start and operate small businesses in America, and he knows what it takes to do exactly that. However, Goodman Coffee Co. was not an individual small business for long. In 1986, the second outlet opened. From there, Goodman Coffee Co. quickly expanded while maintaining its philosophy of “fair trade and fair prices.” In 1988, the first outlet outside of New York City opened in Newark, New Jersey. Thanks to the leadership of its founder and CEO Goodman Coffee

Co. now operates over 1,250 outlets in 37 different states. What was once a small business is now a Fortune 500 company.

In 2006, Jay stepped down as CEO of Goodman Coffee Co. to run for New York’s vacant seat in the

United States Senate because he had ideas for improving the way that government works in

America. He campaigned with a vision of ensuring that other hardworking Americans would be able to succeed. Since winning the election with over 53% of the vote, he has worked to put that vision into practice.

Although he is a member of the National Party, Jay has worked alongside members of other parties to build a better United States. He has authored legislation to cut taxes for small businesses and increase funding for math and science education. His plan to cut tax rates and close tax loopholes has been widely praised by unions and business leaders alike. Jay advocates for a government where lawmakers work together to enact commonsense solutions. In 2012, the people of New York voiced their support for Jay’s agenda by reelecting him with 59% of the vote.

As President, he will end the gridlock in Congress and push for compromise.

Jay lives in New York City with his partner, Kevin, and their fifteen year old son, Chris. After 17 years of being in a committed relationship, Jay and Kevin were finally able to marry in 2011. Jay has been fighting for marriage equality for decades and will continue to do so as President. Jay

Goodman plans on improving America by rethinking how government and business interact, improving our public education system, and encouraging consensus and solutions. He has a record of proven leadership in both the public sector and the private sector. As a job creator, an independent voice, and a problem solver, Jay Goodman will deliver the change that we need in the White House.
