Volunteer Manager
Full Time – 35 hours per week
One year fixed term contract
North Norfolk Community Transport is an exciting, growing charity working to the
vision of ‘Bringing our Communities Together’.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated person to be our full time
Volunteer Manager on a one year fixed term contract.
We take people on 20,000 passenger journeys a year and are a vital transport link
for many people who otherwise would struggle to travel. Our fleet of minibuses and
our car scheme pick passengers up from their door and take them to a range of
locations including shop, leisure activities and medical appointments.
We currently have over 20 staff and up to 50 volunteers. Our volunteers carry out a
variety of roles including driving, helping our passengers and supporting us in the
office taking phone calls and carrying out administration.
We have received a generous donation from Victory Housing which enables us to
recruit a Volunteer Manager. This role will be challenging but exciting.
Over the year the aim will be to recruit 100 new active volunteers for the charity.
Ideally 60% of these will be people looking to get in to work. Our initial drive is to
recruit volunteers in the areas of North Norfolk and Broadland but you would also be
helping us to recruit in other areas of Norfolk (such as Norwich and South Norfolk) as
we expand and work with partner organisations.
You will also be putting in place systems and processes to ensure that after your
year at NNCT we will be able to continue to support our volunteers. You will set up a
training programme for our volunteers and staff. We have a great track record of
helping our volunteers into employment and you will help us take this to the next
level.
The suitable applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Records Bureau (DBS)
check and additional training may be required.
Good knowledge of North Norfolk would be useful.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community. Positions with North
Norfolk Community Transport are available only to applicants who are permitted by
law to work in this country. Applicants from outside the UK will be expected to meet
their own interview and relocation travel costs to point of entry in the UK.
You will be based at our office in North Walsham but will at times need to travel
around North Norfolk and other parts of Norfolk county.

Role Profile
Location: Our office is currently in the Town Hall at North Walsham. We are
expecting to move but the location and timescale has not yet been decided.
However, NNCT reserves the right at any time to require you to work at a different
location either on a temporary or permanent basis upon reasonable notice.
Line Management:
You will be directly accountable to the Chief Executive of NNCT.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. To recruit and retain volunteers - carrying out DBS checks, ensuring all
volunteers have required documentation including driving licenses, and that
training such as Safeguarding training is carried out.
2. You will be responsible for overseeing our existing volunteers. This includes,
but is not limited to, ensuring that we have carried out all appropriate checks
on the volunteers and that we are compliant with our volunteer policies. You
will oversee office-based volunteers on a day to day basis and support other
staff in their use of volunteers who are based more remotely such as Drivers
and Passenger Assistants.
3. To handle expenses claims by volunteers and ensure they are reimbursed
appropriately.
4. To work to recruit 100 new active volunteers for the charity. Ideally 60% of
these will be looking to get in to work. This will include working with other
stakeholders such as the job centre, employment charities and other
community transport organisations.
5. Reporting to key funders and stakeholders on volunteer usage. To report back
to Victory Housing about progress on this current project.
6. To bid for future funding for volunteering and other projects. To create and
implement fundraising opportunities.
7. To review and update all of our volunteer policies and processes.
8. To create a structured training programme for volunteers and processes to
support volunteers in achieving objectives such as gaining employment.
9. To ensure all volunteers are health and safety trained and comply with best
practice at all times
10. To develop and implement a Volunteer Strategy.
11. Any other duties as required by the Chief Executive.
