CS350 Summer 2015
Due dates

assigned – typed and due on July 15th, 2015
Reports on July 28th, 2015 – no late assignment accepted.
Presentation July 28 and 29th, 2015
Purpose of the project
I hope that this project can expand your knowledge in the area of computer networks or
communication networks in general by reading articles in popular magazines, periodicals, or
articles accessible through WWW. In addition, listening to your peers’ presentations is also an
opportunity for learning new things.
What to do
Collect minimum of six articles that are related to the topics assigned to you in class. Each
article needs to be at least two printed pages long.
After reading the articles (at least five), you need to write a summary paper that is two pages
long (12 point fonts, single space). The paper should contain sections such as introduction,
conclusions, and references. In addition, your paper should contain sections discuss the main
problems addressed or solved or the break through, the advantages and disadvantages of the
solutions of the products/standards/solutions, main vendors if any, what are the things we can do
now with the new technology, performance, price, security, and other important issues. The paper
summarizes all the papers you have read, not one page per paper read.
Reports with a Writing Center session will receive 5% bonus points.
Presentation
You need to prepare a 12 minutes presentation based on the articles you have read. Your
projects are graded by both students and I. Of the two students presenting on the same topic, the
one with a better score will receive 10% bonus points, so work hard on your presentation and
research.
What to submit
1. A list of six papers (not the actual papers, but the references) typed July 14th, 2015
2. Your two-page report on July 28th, 2015.
3. A true/false question, with the answer, covered by your presentation. Email this one to
liuj@wou.edu before July 29th, 2015. This question will be used to form a section in the
final exam, so, it should be for your eyes and mine until the final.
