RAW INSPECTION CHECKLIST
TASK
Do not climb the RAWS mast – physically
check equipment that is within reach and
visually check the rest.
1. Rain Gauge
When checking the tipping bucket,
take care not to tip it. If you do the
data logger will record rain.
Inlet clear, grass and weeds clear of
base.
Ensure tipping mechanism and drain
holes are clear of spider webs etc.
Clean any pollen /algae from buckets.
Check connecting cable is OK.
Ensure level bubble on base plate is
centered.
2. Wind Speed / Direction Indicator
Sensor cross arm is aligned to true
North (337° mag).
Watch for free movement of both
instruments (rough guide at 20kph the
anemometer cups should start to blur
to the eye)
3. Temperature and RH Sensors
Clear any insects using a paint brush
and fine wire.
Clean any mildew with a damp cloth
from the underside of the radiation
screen.
4. Solar Panel
Ensure the solar panel is secure and
has a clean surface.
5. Mast
Check mast for corrosion.
Check all the stay wires, ties and
anchors.
COMMENT
6. Fence
Check the fence security.
7. Grass/Weeds
Check/arrange to mow grass and weed
as required.
