Dressage NZ Pony & Young Rider Newcomer Training Camp 2015 Purpose of Training Camp To identify and encourage young riders to further develop their skills and knowledge and to learn to train their horses or ponies at a level appropriate to the individual combination. To introduce young riders to sport sciences for athletes and their horses & ponies. Applications invited from riders: 1. 20 years and under as at 1st January 2015 with a primary goal of improving their dressage knowledge & riding skills, and their competition performance. 2. Riders who have demonstrated a commitment to self improvement 3. Riders must be ESNZ members. Horses & Ponies must be registered for graded competition 4. APPLICATIONS: Priority will be given to combinations who have scored: Level 1 – 2: Minimum 63%, Level 3: Minimum 60% at ESNZ graded competitions from 1st September 2014 – 30 June 2015. Riders on higher graded horses and ponies who have not been selected for any other 2015 squad may apply to attend and other applications may be considered dependent on the total number of applications received Dressage NZ reserves the right to restrict participation in newcomers camps to two years (not necessarily consecutively) should there be an over subscription of applications The list of riders to attend camp will be approved by Dressage NZ. Application to attend does not infer right of attendance. Applications must include (please complete page 2 and post to the Young Convenor in your island by 20 August 2015) Allow at least 5 days for NZ Post; Recommend Fast Post 1. Horse details (age/soundness declaration - vet cert not required), grading points status of horse/pony. 4. A copy of ESNZ horse/pony performance record for the period 1/9/2014 - 30/6/2015. 5. Applicants may include a reference from their trainer but this is not compulsory. Successful applicants will be invited to attend the training camp (there will be a camp in each island) with assessment and lessons from an Dressage NZ approved coach and experienced judge. The successful applicants will be responsible for their own travel and any accommodation & stabling costs for the camp, plus a camp fee of $200.00 for SI Camp and $250.00 for NI Camp. YR Camp “hoodie” is additional $70.00 if ordered. Printed with rider name & Camp logo/year Camp Meals for any additional Family members will be charged as extra.
