Communications Director
Job Description
General
The role of the Communications Director is to oversee the church communication strategy of Berean Baptist
Church. This will require a firm grasp and be in agreement with the beliefs, values and strategy of Berean and
the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The Communications
Director will lead all components of communications and marketing to add inspiration, motivation and clarity to
church messages. This position reports to the Managing Director.
Qualifications
Faith-Based
 Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
 Evidence of growing maturity as a disciple of Christ
 Agreement with Berean Baptist Church statement of faith
 Maintain or establish membership at Berean Baptist Church
Professional
 Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Marketing
 Minimum of five years of experience leading communications, social media and marketing functions
 Competency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products and knowledge of Final Cut and
ProPresenter
 Excellent verbal and written skills
 Strong skills in managing cross-functional, real time projects
 The ability to communicate the big picture and strategically delegate action steps to team members
 Knowledge and expertise in print media, computer graphic, video and web design
 Ability to work in a team based environment and desire to collaborate with others
 Understanding of organizational dynamics and balance productivity, creativity and relationships
 Excellent public relations and change management skills
 Financial integrity and understanding of budgeting
Responsibilities





Responsible for creating an environment that provides two-way communication between the
congregation and church leadership
Lead the communications team to create seamless messages that produce simple ways to connect with
Berean
Responsible for ensuring a consistent experience across multiple communications touch points
including: website, print, promotions, social media, design, video, worship arts, brand management,
media relations
Oversee the marketing and communication of the church’s brand and message through various media
to ensure accurate, creative, and consistent tone, look, voice, and delivery
Cultivate, lead and manage a team of communications professionals and ministry volunteers

When needed and requested, attend Executive Team meetings to provide recommendations, insight
and leadership on various communications matters and concerns
Work with church and ministry leaders to develop communication messages to reach those not
currently associated with Berean
Collaboration with department heads/ministry leaders to develop a comprehensive communications
strategy
Maintain the public relations function of the organization
Establish and maintain active relationships with secular, denominational and interfaith media
Create and implement a strategy for becoming more visible in the community
Be current on creative, communication and technological trends and look for opportunities to more
effectively communicate with the community and Berean faith family
Visionary with a contagious spirit to see how the church can be concise, clear and creative in their
communication.
Assess and determine the most effective ways to communicate a message to its intended audience
