Academic and Social Development Coordinator
Essential Functions: Work in collaboration with the Education Coordinator to ensure everyday
teaching practices are above exceptional level of quality and learning through observations,
assessments and training.
Responsibilities: Collaborate with Head Start Director and Education Coordinator to monitor and
foster growth of classroom personnel through classroom assessment, observations and training and
to enhance the mental health of children birth through 5.
Reports to: Head Start Director
Physical and Mental Requirements: Strong desires to succeed. Patient, able to resolve conflicts,
gentle, loving, kind, creative, and resourceful. Detail and multi-task orientation. Excellent
organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills. Must be able to cope well
with stress. May be required to participate in strenuous activities up to and including lifting up to
50lbs.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 years experience working with preschool children.

Educational Requirements: A baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood or a related field
Licensing/Certification Requirements: Must become CLASS certified within the 90 days
probationary period. First Aid Certification; CPR with specific emphasis on infants and toddlers;
negative Tuberculosis screen; Subject to the agency’s drug and alcohol testing program. Must pass
criminal background check.
Ability to Operate Equipment/Tools: Must be computer literate.
Working Conditions: May come into contact with childhood diseases and blood on occasion.
Extensive travel required in the area; must be able to travel outside project area as assigned. Must
have valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record, as approved by the agency’s vehicle
insurance carrier. Individuals must have an account with a banking or other similar institution that
can process financial transactions through MET’s electronic payroll system.
This person exercises a high level of independence in making decisions and commitments within the
parameters of corporate policies and procedures. Significant errors in judgment may endanger the

health and safety of all children or staff and may cause serious financial and/or legal repercussions
for MET, Inc.
Job Duties:
1. Facilitate educational and social/emotional development enrichment activities for hs/ehs
participants.
2. Serves as a professional role model for staff and children.
3. Guide staff in development appropriate classroom organization skills to help facilitate learning.
4. Conduct CLASS assessments on all HS classrooms three times a year.
5. Assist the Education Coordinator in developing appropriate trainings related to CLASS challenges
6. Work with Center Director and Operations Manager in updating Professional Development Plans
as the need arises based on CLASS assessment data.
7. Planning and facilitating trainings for classroom staff.
8. Enforce expectations and responsibilities of instructional staff through training activities and
immediate feedback
9. Support instructional staff and encourage collaboration between instructors and teaching
assistants .
10. Support the implementation of program goals and objectives, specifically relating to the
program’s curriculum plan and Positive Child Outcomes Framework for Head Start and
Developmental Milestones for Early Head Start.
11. As directed, attend conferences, workshops and meetings in order to promote progress of the
Head Start & Early Head Start program.
12. Meet regularly with coordinators and management staff to exchange information and ensure
implementation of Performance Standards and childcare licensing.
13. Assist in meeting agency non-federal share matching requirement (In-Kind).
14. Maintain confidentiality of program records and participant data.
15. Perform all other duties as outlined by supervisor.
16. Communicates with Licensed Professional Counselors to set up TIPS Talks and Classroom
Observations. Collaborates with LPC to establish a supportive classroom environment
supporting social/emotional development and conducive to learning.

17. Follow the philosophy of the Program for Infant and Toddler Care (PITC). Complete classroom
observations, written on the Missouri Infant/Toddler Responsive Caregiving Checklist. Distribute
notes to appropriate center staff detailing any individualization and intervention that is needed.
