About the Organization
Southern California Grantmakers (SCG) is a nonprofit regional membership association of philanthropists.
Founded in 1973, SCG currently serves 250 members who, together, represent the spectrum of philanthropy,
including corporate foundations and giving programs, family foundations, private independent foundations,
community foundations, public foundations, individual philanthropists, and government grantmakers. SCG
provides extensive learning and networking opportunities for members, while using the power and breadth of
these same organizations and individuals to serve as a voice for philanthropy in the region. Additional

Internship Description
SCG is seeking a talented, professional, and tech-savvy intern on a paid basis to support the organization’s
membership and communications functions. The intern will gain valuable experience working in the nonprofit
community, and will have the opportunity to learn about the philanthropic sector and connect with foundation
and nonprofit professionals.
The intern will work onsite at SCG’s downtown LA office, on a schedule to be arranged during normal business
hours (Mon-Fri 9a-5p). This is an hourly paid intern position. During the summer months – June through
August this position is full time (up to 40 hours per week) and during the months of September – May this
position is part-time (up to 20 hours per week).
This position will report to the Director of Communications & Membership.
Job Responsibilities
 Membership Directory: conduct outreach to members and online research to populate organizational
and individual directory listings; prepare paper forms for member review at all programs; work directly
with members to approve and update listings on an ongoing basis.
 Membership Files: scan and enter data from old membership files and enter into Salesforce database.
 Peer Research: contact other Regional Associations to research comparable programs, speakers,
policies and resources.
 Online Content: upload content to website (e.g., program resources, job listings).
 Marketing Materials: update organizational information packet materials and maintain office supply of
packets on an ongoing basis.
 Social Media: assist with populating queue for social channels, posting from programs and conferences.

 Audio/visual: assist with technology needs at programs and conferences.
 All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
 Excellent organizational and administrative skills
 Proven ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines
 Excellent writing skills
 Superb attention to detail
 Strong research skills
 Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office & online); Salesforce and/or Adobe Creative Suite a plus
 Reliable transportation, preferably a car
 Professional demeanor for interacting with members & prospects
