Bedside Emergency Ultrasound Rotation ICU Fellowship Level Department of Emergency Medicine Virginia Commonwealth University Length of rotation: 4 weeks Goal: To develop proficiency in performing and interpreting bedside ultrasound examinations for use in the critical care patient. Objectives: 1. Fellow to understand indications for a bedside ultrasound examination. 2. Fellow to learn and practice common bedside ultrasound examinations, including cardiac, EFAST, DVT, RUQ, procedural, thoracic, renal, aorta. 3. Fellow will submit for QA 25 each of the following studies: cardiac, eFAST, thoracic 4. Fellow will submit for QA 10 each of the following studies: RUQ, renal, aorta, DVT 5. Fellow will complete all EM SONO ultrasound modules. 6. Fellow will participate in weekly ultrasound didactic sessions and QA sessions – Wednesdays at 1PM, location main hospital 2nd floor ultrasound office (within ED residency offices) 7. Fellow will give short journal article presentation on critical care ultrasound during one of the weekly ultrasound meetings – Wednesdays at 1PM, location main hospital 2nd floor ultrasound office (within ED residency offices) 8. Fellow will round and scan with ultrasound team during weekly ultrasound rounds - Wednesdays at 1PM, location main hospital 2nd floor ultrasound office (within ED residency offices) 9. Fellow will arrange at least four 1-on-1 scanning sessions with ultrasound faculty/fellows.
