1. GLOBAL HEALTH
3 ECTS (78 hours), including:
- e-learning 68 hours
- seminars 10 hours
Learning outcomes:
- has a general knowledge of global processes and their causal factors;
- has an understanding of the impact of global processes on health determinants;
- has an overview of global infectious diseases, the reasons for their spread and the prevention
and control measures;
- has an overview of the global non-infectious chronic diseases, risk factors and the main
preventive measure;
- knows the key international health organizations, their areas of activities and the content and
trends of international health programs;
- can find and use the statistical reviews of international health organizations.
2. HEALTHY NUTRITION
3 ECTS (78 hours), including:
- auditory work (lecture) 2 hours
- independent work 76 hours
Learning outcomes:
- knows the classification and roles of nutrients;
- knows the components of energy expenditure;
- considers the principles of functioning of digestive system;
- is able to plan an individual diet;
- is able to make healthy choices.
3. ESTONIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE
3 ECTS (78 hours), including:
- lectures/seminars 39 hours
- independent work 39 hours
Learning outcomes:
- can introduce himself/herself and talk about his/her origin, nationality, and language skills in
Estonian;
- can communicate in Estonian on an elementary level in basic language situations (shops,
cafes, public transport, during leisure activities, emergency situations);
- has an overview of Estonian history and the development of the nation;
- knows the main holidays in Estonia and can describe common habits of Estonians;
- knows Estonian musicians, writers, artists, and can name their most important works.
4. ESTONIAN HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT

Learning outcomes:
- knows the organizational structure and management of Estonian healthcare system;
- knows the Estonian healthcare financing and expenditure;
- knows different healthcare and nursing care services in Estonia;
- knows health care reforms in Estonia;
- knows and can analyse the factors influencing health condition;
- can describe and analyse the differences between Estonian and home country`s healthcare
system.
4 EYE HEALTH CARE
2 ECTS (52 hours), including:
- e-learning 26 hours
- independent work 26 hours
Learning outcomes:
- can assess differences in healthy and affected eye;
- knows a variety of vision facilities and their features;
- has knowledge about vision- and work ergonomics.
5 VETERINARY PHARMACY
2 ECTS (56 hours), including:
- independent work 56 hours
Learning outcomes:
- understands the differences between humans and animals in drug administration and in
determination of drug doses of medication;
- is able to give adequate advice to animal owners within the competence of pharmacy staff;
- knows the characteristics of pets and farm animals;
- is able to distribute prescription medications to animals, and knows the legislation concerning
animals.
