General Rabbit Exhibitor Rules and Guidelines
1. Exhibitor Rules and Guidelines: All rabbit exhibitors are required to abide by the Junior Fair General
and Animal Exhibitor rules listed in the front of this book as well as the rules listed below. THERE IS
A $2.00 PER CLASS ENTRY FEE PAYABLE TO FR. CO. JR. FAIRBOARD AND DUE NO
LATER THAN JUNE 20. Please read carefully all rules and guidelines.
2. Health Requirements: No Health Papers. Rabbits exhibited must show no symptoms of evidence of a
infectious or contagious disease. The fair veterinarian will inspect rabbits on the first Saturday of the
fair.
3. Tag Numbers: All rabbits staying on the grounds for the entire week must have a permanent tattoo in
the rabbits left ear.
4. Number of Entries: Each exhibitor may show a maximum of six breeding class rabbits, with a
maximum of two rabbits per class. Each exhibitor may also show one market pen of three and a total of
four single market rabbits. Single market rabbits cannot be exhibited as part of a pen of three. Before
placing rabbit on the scale, the exhibitor must identify whether the rabbit is a single fryer or part of a pen
of three. Once official weight is recorded in the entry book, no changes can be made.
5. Evaluations: Rabbit exhibitors must bring up-to-date project book (s), record book (s) and feed tag (s)
for all projects to evaluation. All rabbit exhibitors must go through rabbit evaluations to be eligible to
show market and/or breeding rabbits.
6. Authorized Show Ring People: All exhibitors are responsible for carrying their rabbits to and from the
judging tables on show day. A junior fair member may assist another junior fair member with this
task. Only exhibitors may show rabbits at the judging table. No adults at the show table. Two show
helpers may be designated the day of the show by the Director in Charge for manipulating equipment
and help in lining up classes to keep the show moving.
7. Showmanship Animals: In showmanship, exhibitors must show their own animals. If a member is
participating in showmanship the rabbit used for showmanship must be shown in the Breed A, Breed B
or Market Show.
8. Care of Rabbits: Exhibitors are responsible for the care of their rabbit throughout fair week. Each
exhibitor is to provide feed, feed cups and water for their animals. If rabbits do not have sufficient food,
water and ice bottles, if required, the animals may be dismissed from the fairgrounds and all awards will
be forfeited. Ice bottles are mandatory for all rabbits when the temperature is above 90 degrees F. Fair
board officials may request ice bottles for a rabbit if they determine a rabbit is overheated. To protect
the health of your rabbit and others around you exhibitors cannot use cedar shavings. You are required
to use pine shavings only.
9. Cages: Owners must use cages provided by the Franklin County Agricultural Society. No
Exceptions. No combination or key locks are to be used on the cages. If members feel the need to
secure the cages- wire or zip ties may be used.
10. All Breeding and Market Rabbits - Will be required to stay on the fairgrounds throughout the duration
of the fair. Pet rabbits are not required to be on the grounds unless the rabbit is participating in breed
show, showmanship or the rabbit fun show. Pet rabbits will not be brought to evaluation. Pet rabbit
exhibitors who are not keeping their rabbit on the grounds will be required to exhibit a
poster/educational display in their club booth.
11. Breeding and Market Rabbits: Exhibitors taking both breeding and market rabbits may use either
project book due to similarity of the information. Breeding rabbits shown in breeding classes cannot be
shown in the market classes. You must register for the Market project on your 4-H project form due on
April 1 to the Extension Office to show market rabbits at the fair. The same is true for breeding rabbit
projects. You can’t sign up for a breeding projects then change it to a market or vice versa.
12. Showmanship Classes: Pre-fair Online Registration Preferred - See Department 59 - Livestock Special
Events. Showmanship Registrations accepted day of show, entries must be made ½ hr before
showmanship classes begin.
13. Outstanding Market Exhibitor All youth exhibitors that meet the following requirements are
automatically entered in Outstanding Market Exhibitor Contest. 1. Completed Evaluation and Skill a
thon 2. Showmanship 3. Buyer Thank you Poster and 4. Live Animal Show. See Department 59 Livestock Special Events for OME contest details.
14. Livestock Promotion and Advertising Award: See Department 59 - Livestock Special Events Section 301 - Livestock Promotion and Advertising Contest for entry information and contest details.
No registration required.
15. Show Attire: All rabbit exhibitor must wear a white lab coat or white oxford type shirt.
16. Pen Cleaning: Before leaving the fair, all exhibitors are required to clean their stalls/pens/cages and
return them to its original state by 5:00 PM on the Sunday, the day after the fair is over. This includes
those stalls and cages in Champion Row. All stalls/pens/cages will be inspected by the Directors in
Charge on that Sunday beginning at 5:00 PM.
17. Breed Show Qualification: In order to show in the Breed A (section 201) and Breed B (section 301)
rabbit show, the rabbit must be entered under the breeding section of the registration form. (not under
general or market) The Breeding Rabbit Identification Form, showing tattoo number must be received
by the Jr. Fair Board by June 11.
18. Order of Rabbit Breed Show: Will be posted no later than the morning of the show.
Breeding Rabbit Exhibitor Rules and Guidelines
1. Animal Requirements for Breeding and Production Rabbits: Does and bucks must be in the
possession and under ownership of the exhibitor by June 1.
2. Does with Litters: Does with litters should not be exhibited. All rabbits must be at least 3 months of
age to exhibit at the fair.
3. A Rabbit Livestock Breeding Project Identification form: Must be submitted to the Junior Fair Board
by June 11.
Market Rabbit Exhibitor Rules and Guidelines
1. Eligibility: Rabbits entered as a pen of three cannot be entered in the Single Market fryer class. The
pens of three and single market fryers should be meat class rabbits - examples include Florida Whites,
Rex, Satins, New Zealands, Silver Martin, Californian, Palominos and American Blue.
2. Awards: Market Rabbits are only eligible for Grand Champion Market Rabbit, Reserve Champion
Market Rabbit, Grand Champion Pen of 3, Reserve Champion Pen of Three, OME, Showmanship and
Skill -A-Thon.
3. Animal Requirements for Market Rabbits:
1. All Market Rabbits must be in the possession (continuous care) and ownership: of the
exhibitor by June 7. All market rabbits must be 70 days old or younger at the time of fair official
weigh-in. Older animals will be disqualified. Proof of birth date AND possession date is
required to be presented with either a breeding record or bill of sale in the name of the owner at
weigh-in. (see page 48 & 49 of the Market Rabbit project book for breeding record explanation.)
2. Market Livestock Project Identification Form: Must be completed and on file with the Junior
Fair Board by June 17 for all market rabbits to exhibit.
3. Each market rabbit must meet minimum and maximum single market rabbit weights
1. Single Market Rabbits - 3- 1/2 pounds minimum to 5 pounds maximum
2. Pen of 3 Market Rabbits - each rabbit in the pen must meet the individual weight
requirement or the entire pen will be disqualified.
4. Official Weigh - In: Rabbits will be weighed once. This is the official weight throughout the
fair. There will be one weigh master at the weigh-in and his/her decision is final. Proof of Birth
Date and possession date must be shown at weigh in. Tattoos must be looked at and verified by
a Jr. Fair Official/weigh master.
5. Weight Limits: Market rabbits must meet the weight limits set by the Junior Fair Board to be
eligible to show and/or sell. Exhibitors with Underweight / Overweight animals must submit in
writing to the Director in Charge within 24 hrs if animal(s) will remain on the fairgrounds for the
fair week or be removed from the fairgrounds. If the animal remains on the grounds, it is the
responsibility of the exhibitor to remove the animal from the grounds, following the animals
release time.
4. Sale Requirements: All rabbit selling in the auction are required to have their picture taken prior to
weigh ins. Exhibitors can provide their own photo to a sale committee member or email the photo to the
sale committee: frcolivestocksale@yahoo.com by Friday at 10AM. If an acceptable picture is not
available the animal will not sell.

General Rules for Rabbit Fun Show
1. Participation - Any Junior Fair Participate who has a rabbit on the fair grounds and has gone through their
organization's evaluation may enter.
2. Number of Entries - Participants can enter in no more than 3 classes. Participants may only have one entry
per class but may have multiple rabbits within that entry to carry out the theme.
3. Breaks Between Classes: Time will be given between classes for costume changes should the same
rabbit(s) be used although exhibitors will be expected to make costume changes as quickly as possible.
