JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE:
Psychiatric Services Assistant
HOURS:
Full time (35 Hours) Mon-Fri 8:30-4pm
PROGRAM:
DYS – Western Region – Springfield, Westfield, Holyoke Site
SALARY:
$16.00 per Hour - $18.00 per Hour
BENEFITS:

DUITES:
The Psychiatric Services Assistant works in collaboration with the program Psychiatrist, medical team
members and DYS unit staff to provide psychiatric care to detained and committed DYS adolescents.














Assist psychiatrist with processing prescriptions and facilitating orders
Completing and dispersing medication instruction/observation sheets to DYS units.
Track and record prescriptions, refills and current counts in a master database.
Troubleshooting medication and delivery errors with pharmacy.
Disperse lab orders to nursing staff and track delivery of results to psychiatrist.
Responsible for referrals and follow up to outside agencies.
Gather, record, and transmit clinically relevant information about referred residents directly to the
consulting psychiatrist.
Facilitate scheduling of evaluations and follow-up appointments.
Maintain physical and electronic copies of consent forms and track changes.
Provide liaison with unit clinical staff and teachers and obtain required reports.
Mail consent forms and information to parents and direct them to publicly-available educational
materials chosen by the psychiatrist.
Maintain medical records and documentation in accordance with program/agency policy.
Travel between programs following the psychiatrist as needed to provide support listed above on a
weekly basis required.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
REQURIED MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS: High school diploma required.
PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS: Medical Assistant Certification and/or 3-5+ years or relevant experience.
Strong computer skills (Spreadsheets, Microsoft Office 2003+ and Email/Browser)
Strong time management and organizational skills.
