Assistant Professor (9403) or Associate Professor (9402)
The Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth is currently recruiting
a scholar and teacher in Science Education for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant
or Associate Professor to begin fall 2016, August 22, 2016. The appointment will be 100%
time over the nine-month academic year.
Required Qualifications (Must be mentioned on application and/or vitae):
Applicants for the position of assistant professor of science education are required
to have: A doctoral degree in science education or a related field, or advanced ABD
status, from an accredited institution. The doctorate must be completed by July 1,
2016. Capacity for successful teaching and research at the university level and
commitment to working with diverse populations.
Applicants for the position of associate professor must meet the requirements above
and possess a distinguished record of academic achievement (scholarly research or
other creative work, teaching, and service) that satisfies the criteria for associate
professor status in the Department of Education at the University of Minnesota
Duluth.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Training and experience in comprehensive science education that may include
STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
2. Two years of successful teaching of science in K-12 settings.
3. Successful teaching experience in science education at the university level.
4. Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and environmental education.
5. Experience educating diverse populations.
6. Demonstrated commitment to integrating social justice issues into the curriculum.
7. Experience and interest in teaching with technology.
8. Experience in supervision of pre-service teachers in schools.
9. Demonstrated interest in STEM community partnerships.

Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate pre-service and inservice teachers in science education; developing and maintaining a vigorous research
agenda; advising a diverse community of students enrolled in education programs; service
assignments in the department, college, university; and service to professional STEM
organizations.
