IMPORTANT MESSAGE from the ACCESS CENTER
TO:
STUDENTS AND FACULTY
RE:
CHANGE IN SPRING 2015 PROCTORING HOURS
The Access Center will administer exams between 3:00
PM and 9:00 PM only,
between January 12 and May 1. (Final exams will be administered between 7:30 AM and 9:00 PM.)
WHY THIS CHANGE? Complete renovation of the third floor of the Washington Building
(directly above the Access Center offices) will begin in January and continue through July. This
construction will entail loud noises such as drilling, pounding, hammering, etc., on a daily basis.
A quiet testing environment must be provided to students who test at the Access Center.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR STUDENTS AND FACULTY?

Students who wish to test at the Access Center will need to take many of their exams
later in the day/evening and not during the regularly scheduled class time. Alternate
times must be written on students’ Reservations to Test form, and instructors must
approve the alternate time. Instructors’ signatures on the Reservations to Test forms
constitute approval.

Instructors will have two options for providing accommodations:
1. Approve students to test at a later time in the day (and possibly a different day) at
the Access Center, OR
2. Make arrangement to either accommodate students themselves or within their
department.
PLEASE NOTE: Equal access and the provision of accommodations is a university responsibility,
shared among faculty, departments and the Access Center. Approved accommodations based
on a documented disability MUST be provided.
We understand this is an inconvenience for everyone. We appreciate everyone’s
understanding and continued support of equal access and educational opportunity.
Please contact Meredyth Goodwin, Director, Access Center, at 509-335-3417 or
m.goodwin@wsu.edu, with any questions or concerns.
