Summary January 27, 2015
PRESENT:

DKA representatives: Dominick Demonica and Greg Spitzer
1. Approval of summary
After reviewing the summary of the meeting held on December 2, 2014, no additions or
comments were recommended.
2. Upcoming bid status
RFP: Commissioning Agent Services
 465 vendors were notified and 10 of them submitted a reply.
 Affiliated Engineers, Inc from Madison, WI was chosen.
 Other submissions were either over budget or did not have prior experience

Project Status Report
Multipurpose Center/Romeoville Expansion Update
 Schematic design phase is being wrapped up
City Center Campus
 CDB held pre-bid meeting last week.
 Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing bids will be opened on Thursday, January 29th
 General Trades bids will be opened on Thursday, February 5th
Capital Improvement Updates
Painting, Replace Carpet/Tile, Lighting
 These updates are for C-Building offices and are expected to take place in the summer
Phase VI keyless entry
 Progress continues to be made and the C-Building classrooms are currently in process.
Upgrade DDC
 Romeoville Campus is complete
 Obtaining pricing for the Greenhouse and Weitendorf facility
Replace Roof S-Building
 Bid will be released in February
Parking Lot Improvements & Fire Lane at K-Building
 Projects are being combined into one bid
 Bid is expected to be out in February
Repairs to D2001 and D2002
 Construction documents are in progress
 Construction to start in May

Smart Classroom Renovation
 Bid documents are in process.
 A demonstration has been set up for Thursday, January 29th for the high tech furniture.
Cover/Repair Exterior Stairs H-Bridge
 Rick Lyman proposed replacing the current stairwell with a galvanized stairwell with
open tread. The committee viewed renderings of the project and agreed to move forward
with the project.
4. Other
Schematic Design Proposal for Multipurpose Facility and Romeoville Expansion
 Mr. Dominick Demonica and Greg Spitzer from Demonica Kemper Architects (DKA)
presented the proposed schematic design for the Multipurpose Center and the Romeoville
Expansion. DKA demonstrated that the feedback received from the steering and
programming committee meetings was taken into account in the final renderings.
IGEN/StraightUp Solar Panel Installment at Weitendorf
 Pat Van Duyne informed the committee that JJC will be partnering with IGEN, along
with six other participating colleges, for a bulk purchase of solar panels. Installation of
the solar panel for JJC will take place at the Weitendorf campus. The total cost is
expected not to exceed $83,000. DCEO will refund 50% of those expenses.
