Community Council of Idaho to host 28th annual golf tournament
The Community Council of Idaho, Inc. will host its 28th Annual Hispanic Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday,
August 15 at River Bend Golf Course in Wilder. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the shotgun start will commence at
9 a.m. The tournament will be a four-player scramble.
The purpose of this tournament is to raise money to award up to nine $1,000 scholarships to Hispanic high school
seniors in Idaho who demonstrate financial need and a promising academic future. The students chosen for the 20142015 academic school year are as follows (in random order):








Leslie Albor, Homedale High School; going to Idaho State University for pre-med
Jose Juan Rodriguez-Aparicio, Caldwell High School; going to College of Western Idaho for electronics
Nohe Mata, Nampa High School; going to University of Idaho for political science
Eddy Ortega, Jerome High School; going to Emory University for chemistry
Lucia Rubi, Glenns Ferry High School; going to College of Southern Idaho for nursing
Fernando Carmona Sosa, North Fremont High School; going to Emory University for health science
Sergio Trejo, North Fremont High School; going to University of Idaho for virtual technology and design
Maria Guadalupe Alvarez Zavala, Oakley High School; going to College of Southern Idaho for chemistry
Alternates
 Griselda J. Garcia, Glenns Ferry High School; going to University of Idaho for radiology
 Raquel Nuñez, Vallivue High School; going to Boise State University for radiologic science
Each applicant for the scholarship must submit an application, a copy of his/her high school transcript, a copy of the
previous year’s tax returns, three letters of recommendation, and a one-page letter or personal statement. The
recipient must maintain full-time enrolled status in order to keep the scholarship.
This year, Nohe Mata will be addressing golfers during our tournament to tell his personal story and explain how the
scholarship made his dreams of attending college a reality.
