Modified Accordion Book Directions
Supplies: 1 piece of construction paper, 1 piece of computer paper, scrap paper, scissors, glue
stick, a ruler

Fold the computer paper in half (hot dog style).
Use the scissors to cut the paper in half (along the fold).
Take one of the halves and fold it in half (hamburger style).
Take the top layer of paper, flip the edge back to meet the fold, and crease.
Turn the paper over, flip the edge of the paper back to meet the fold, and crease.
Repeat steps 3-5 on the other half of paper.
Set your two folded halves to the side and take out the scrap paper.
Using the ruler draw a rectangle 4 inches wide (horizontally), and 1 inch tall (vertically).
Using the scissors, cut out your rectangle.
Fold the rectangle (hot dog style), and set aside.
Put the two folded halves of paper in front of you, on your desk standing up, side by side.
a. They should look like two letter Ms.
12. Take your folded scrap paper, (hold it like a letter V) putting glue on the inside *** BE
CAREFUL DO NOT GLUE CLOSED
13. Push the Ms together, so that their sides are flush (one continuous M)
14. Use the glued V (scrap paper) two connect the two letter Ms
a. This is done by using the V to pinch the bottom of the connecting piece of the Ms

Now to create the cover:

Fold the construction paper in half.
Close your accordion and line it up on the edge of the folded construction paper
Using the accordion as a guide draw a slightly bigger rectangle.
Cut out the rectangle
a. When finished you should now have two rectangles
5. Put glue on the top side of the accordion and attach the construction paper
a. Do the same to the bottom of the accordion
Now decorate and fill out your accordion book
