First term of action of cause of Crusades: Christians view Muslims as intolerant due to the Church of
the holy sepulcher (the church where Christians believed Jesus Christ was buried) burned down by
Muslim and sent terror throughout Christians. Even though 40 years later the Muslims rebuilt the
church as a sign of good will.
The Islamic Empire is at their weakest as the crusaders arrive in the Middle East and Muslims weren’t
sure who these people were?
The First Crusade was one of the bloodiest massacres of all time. The Christians completely surprised all
citizens and killed anyone in their way Muslims, Jews and even Christians.
Many Crusaders wound up staying and built castles and continued feudalism in the Middle East.
Living in the castle was not joyous because these Europeans were constantly in fear of people outside of
the castles. Remember occupiers are never seen in a positive light.
The Crusaders returned metalwork, textiles and silks brought back to Europe. An industry
developed of souvenirs to bring back to Europe.
The Muslims now have reason to fight back into the second crusade. Again, the occupiers are
never seen in a positive light.
