CLEARING SUSPENSIONS
&
ADMINISTRATIVE CONFERENCES
Suspensions are cleared and administrative conferences are held
daily during these hours only:
7:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.
&
1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.
KHS assistant principals are assigned specific supervisory
responsibilities and duties before, during, and after the school day.
In order to properly fulfill their instructional and operational
responsibilities and provide for adequate student and classroom
supervision, assistant principals are available to clear suspensions
and/or hold conferences only during the above-listed time periods.
We appreciate your cooperation as we continue to improve our
students’ academic progress, improve our school’s climate, and
protect our campus safety.
If there is an emergency situation for which you need immediate
assistance, please see one of our staff members in the Main or
Attendance Office.

2014-2015 Uniform Information
Tops: (shirts & blouses) must be white, black, gray or navy blue with a collar and
sleeves.
 Acceptable styles include Polo or Golf style shirts, Oxford or buttondown dress shirts.
 Long sleeve and short sleeve shirts are acceptable.
 Sleeveless tops are not acceptable.
 T-shirts worn as undergarments must be white, black, gray or navy
blue.
Bottoms: pants, shorts, and skirts must be tan/khaki, navy blue, or black.
 Skirts or dresses must be knee length.
 Pants should be worn around the waist. Sagging is not acceptable!
 Oversized pants are not acceptable.
Belts/Socks: Belts must be worn; any colors are acceptable as long as it doesn’t
disrupt the educational environment.
Shoes/Shoe Strings: If sandals are worn they must have a heel strap. Shoes must
match.
Baseball Caps: keep in clear backpacks or lockers.
Jackets: Acceptable jacket colors are white, black, navy blue and gray. All other
colors may be worn to school, but must be placed inside of his/her locker. Rent a
locker for the year for $4.00.
Backpacks: Students will only be allowed to carry clear see through
backpacks at Kirby High School. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
Any backpacks that are not transparent must be kept in the locker.
Jewelry and large purses: teeth “grills” aren’t permissible, large necklaces
which have gang overtones are not allowed. Large lady purses aren’t allowed.
Anything that disrupts the educational process or may be interpreted as
harmful will be addressed by this administration.
No denim material may be worn as uniform clothing. Raincoats, heavy coats and
jackets are not to be worn throughout the school day.

1. Safety: threats, harassment, bullying, and fighting will not be

6. Cell phones should be kept out of sight and turned off during
school hours. If the phone is confiscated, the parent can pick the
phone up after school the next day or by appointment for

7. I Pod’s, MP3 players and any other battery-operated devices are
not allowed at school. They should be kept out of sight.

Solutions:
Negative Consequences for Negative Behavior…
 Fighting will not be tolerated. *Do not bring community problems to school.
 Problem areas- no collar shirt, no stripe shirts, and no jogging pants/suits.
 Profanity towards another student or an adult will not be tolerated.
 School time starts at 7:00 a.m ... You are late at 7:15 a.m.
o Consistently late to school will affect academic progress and may delay
your anticipated graduation date.
 Cell phones are to be kept out of sight and turned off.

Tardy Policy: (to school)
 On the 2nd tardy intervention
 On the 4th tardy intervention (Truancy meeting).
 On the 6th tardy an administrative action will take place. (OSS)

 On the 3rd tardy an intervention will take place (over-night)
 On the 6th tardy an administrative action will take place (OSS)
 In both cases tardy to school and class, after the 6th tardy the
consequence will be more severe which could lead to multiple
days of OSS.
*This procedure will start over each nine weeks*
At the end of each report card period, parents will be allowed to
pick-up their child’s report card. Refreshments are served and
parents may schedule a conference with their child’s teachers.
Report card pick up are during the months of October, January and
March from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the school’s cafeteria. We will
release the dates once they are official.
**ATTENTION:
If your child, nephew or niece is two (2) years behind, statistics reports
eighty percent (80%) of them will drop out of high school and ninety
percent (90%) will become discipline problems within the school.
Failure is NOT an Option.
Your child has choices and dropping out isn’t an option. For more

Nearly (100) students took advantage of Dual Enrollment classes 2011-2013
Two colleges offer Dual Enrollment classes at Kirby High:

For the past four years, Kirby High seniors’ scholarship money increased. The class of 2013
earned more than $7,500,000 in academic scholarships.
Seventy-five percent (75%) of Kirby High’s faculty and staff have a master degrees or
higher.


Kirby High students compete on varsity teams in basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, softball,
baseball, bowling, cross country, and track & field.

Kirby High band performs at nursing homes, parades, and band competitions winning many
awards.

Kirby High dance team has performed in local, regional and national competitions earning top
honors.

Kirby High ROTC teams have received local and district acclaims. Their scores have been
consistently among the top three in the city.

Kirby High chorus competes in local and regional festivals and often winning top awards

Kirby High hosted the City Wide Flu Vaccine immunizing over 800 individuals.

Kirby High Cosmetology classes won several awards during the 2012-13 Hair Expo.
