Information About the Ceremony
The 2015 College of Arts and Humanities Convocation will be held, May 15,
2015, 12:00 pm, in the east Gym at the Rec Center at Fresno State for students who
have competed their degree in Summer 2014, Fall 2014, and Spring 2015. Tickets
are required for each guest, including children/babies.
Provisions for both parking and seating for disabled are available.
Instructions for all graduates:
Tickets: Each graduate is given 4 tickets. You will sign for pick up your tickets
in the department office of your major. There is no 4-ticket allocation guarantee
for late signups. No one can pick them up for you. More information to come.
Any extra tickets will be available at the Dean’s Office on a first-come, first-serve,
with a set limit of 4. (Old Music 186; open 8:00 am-noon and 1:00 pm to 5:00
pm.) You will also be given a card from the photographer that you will need to
complete and bring with you to the ceremony. As your department approaches the
state, each student will had the card to the person reading the names. This card
will then be given to the photographer.
Academic Regalia is required and is purchased at the Kennel Bookstore. Cap,
gown, hood (according to your degree) or tassel (white).
It is important that you arrive to line up no later than 11:45 p.m. You will line
up by department in the West Gym of the Rec Center at the designated area.
For those undergraduate honor students who have been approved for graduation
(Summer 2014; Fall 2014 and Spring 2015) and have met the honors
qualifications, by attending the ceremony, you will receive an honors cord as a gift
from the dean prior to the ceremony. This is a gift from the dean for only those
who participate in the ceremony. (see the California State University, Fresno
General Catalog, “Degree Requirements” then go to “Honors at Graduation” for
clarification of how the honors designation works.) The Administrative Assistant
for your department will be handing out the honors cords for those undergraduate
students who have earned them prior to the start of the ceremony.
Disabled students participating in the ceremony: A DGS representative
will be available at the northeast entrance to the Save Mart Center to escort
disabled students to the staging area. Parking Lot 5 is for the disabled and special
passes.
Photography: A photographer will be present to take pictures of each student
with the dean and as they exit the stage. The company will send you proofs within
10 days of the ceremony, but you are under no obligation to purchase these
photographs. When you receive the proofs any questions regarding these pictures
should be directed to the company.
Guest Information: Parking passes are not required. All Arts and Humanities
graduates will park in Lot V. Guests are to park in the Save Mart Center’s North
Lot. Parking is free. Please be aware that there will be no seating of guests prior
to 12:00 p.m. or during the graduate processional. Due to security requirements,
backpacks or large bags will not be allowed in the gym. Purses may be subject to
search at the door by security personnel. Lot 5 is for the disabled and special
passes.
Please be aware of the strict guidelines for your guests:
Guests may not enter before noon.
No Balloons
No Food
No Confetti
No Strollers
No Re-entry
No ticket, no entry
Children and infants must have a ticket as the fire marshal count is based on
actual bodies, not seats that are filled.
When the ceremony has concluded: There will be a recessional at the end of
the ceremony. The platform party will leave first, then the faculty, then the
graduates, beginning with the first row. Reminder: You will meet your guests
outside in front of the Recreation Center. Guests will be dismissed after students
have exited the buildings
Convocation programs: Programs will be available for your guests as they
enter the seating area. Your program will be on your chair.
