AWARDS FORMS
The Baseball Manitoba is proud to present its 2015 Awards Program honoring its best
coaches, officials, players, teams, volunteers, and honorary members for their performances
and/or contributions to the sport of baseball. We invite all coaches, league presidents, regional
directors, and executive members to nominate those individuals who deserve recognition for
their performance over the past year. All nominees must be affiliated with the Baseball
Manitoba.
The Awards Committee reviews the applications and selects the most deserving nominee in
each category. There is no limit on the number of times an individual can be nominated. The
more information the committee receives, the better they can assess your nominee.
Supporting letters from minor ball associations and club members are helpful to the committee.
Clubs submitting applications are encouraged to add any extra biographical information on
separate sheets of paper. Any member of the Baseball Manitoba may submit nominations.
The enclosed forms will help you get a head start on the nomination process. We have also
included a list of suggested guidelines on the following page to assist you in gathering your
nominee’s profile.
Please ensure your forms are returned in legible form to avoid spelling errors on certificates
and awards.
The 2015 Baseball Manitoba Awards Banquet will be held on November 14 in Brandon at
the Royal Oak Inn.
NOTE: Due to the scope and time limitations, the Awards Committee will limit
recognition at the Banquet only to those selected as the winners in each category.
Those nominated and not selected will be notified of their nomination by mail.

AWARDS PROGRAM
Baseball Manitoba will be honoring teams and individuals in the following categories:
PLAYER OF THE YEAR
This award is presented in the following age categories. Please keep the information regarding the player
to age category for which they are being nominated.
 13U - Pee Wee
 15U - Bantam
 18U - Midget
 21U - Junior
 Senior “AAA”
 Senior “AA”
 Female (13U and older)
COACH OF THE YEAR – Grassroots
This award will be presented to a Baseball Manitoba registered coach with a minimum Level I Technical or
Regional Coach NCCP certification (coaches of “AA” or “A” Minor club teams programs) for outstanding
volunteer service to the sport at club, regional or provincial level. The nominee will be recognized for
leadership and excellence and must be a current member in good standing.
COACH OF THE YEAR – High Performance
This award will be presented to a Baseball Manitoba registered coach with a minimum full Level I with
Technical II or Provincial Coach Trained NCCP certification (coaches of “AAA” teams and provincial
teams) for outstanding volunteer service to the sport at club, regional or national level. The nominee will
be recognized for leadership and excellence and must be a current member in good standing.
TEAM OF THE YEAR - Grassroots
Open to minor teams from the “AA” and “A” categories (11u, 13u, 15u and 18U)
TEAM OF THE YEAR – High Performance – 2 categories
 Minor – 13U, 15U and 18 U “AAA”
 Major – 21U, Senior “AA”, Senior “AA” All-Stars and Senior “AAA”
YOUTH UMPIRE OF THE YEAR
This award will be presented to an active, registered umpire with a minimum of Level II certification, and
20 years of age or under.
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
This award will be presented to an active adult volunteer whose contributions to baseball this current year
have resulted in the creation of a better environment for players. Nominees may not be active members of
Baseball Manitoba Board of Directors. Former candidates from past years are eligible for nomination in
any of the Baseball Manitoba Awards categories.
HONOUR SOCIETY
Open to persons who have made a significant long-term contribution to amateur baseball in Manitoba as
a player, coach, umpire, or volunteer for a minimum of 10+ years.
While completing the enclosed forms, please be sure to indicate the appropriate category of nomination (one
person, one category only per form). The more complete the information is, the easier it is to select the
appropriate candidate.

Suggested Guidelines








Read this Awards Booklet thoroughly and carefully, noting the criteria
Make a note of all awards that apply to individuals within your club
Call a meeting or at the next meeting, discuss potential candidates
Settle on the specific awards and ONE candidate from your club per award
Ensure that someone will coordinate the compiling of the information or divide it up
Ensure that the coordinator(s) are aware of some of the winning tips for preparing a
Section Award Nomination
Set a deadline to have all paperwork compiled
Ensure that it is in the mail by the deadline (refer to awards booklet)
Winning Tips:









Consult knowledgeable people for accurate information concerning the candidate’s
endeavors, competitive records, other activities or areas of involvement within or outside of
skating, philosophies, quotes or notable remarks – these people could be a mother, sister,
husband, or friend, etc.
Select approx. 3-6 people who could write brief letters of commendation for the candidate
(strive for diversity) e.g. school teacher, baseball coach, 4-H leader, a player they
coached, a close relative, club executive member, etc. as opposed to 5 repetitious letters
from various relatives.
Ensure that they are aware of the deadline to get this information back to you
Compile the information received for each candidate and clip it to his or her specific
nomination form.
Ensure information is filled in accurately on forms in the spaces provided.
Write a brief letter from the club stressing why this individual is such a worthy candidate.
Make a copy if you like.
Pop it in the mail, email or deliver it by the deadline.
Indulge in the satisfaction – you did a good thing.
Remember – capture the very best in these individuals! Faithfully do this and enjoy the rewards you
will begin to notice within your club.
