
Morning Announcements
Ask your school administrator who is in charge of morning announcements to incorporate
bullying prevention messages or tips either daily or weekly. Offer to provide the
prevention messages.

Acts of Kindness Award/ Positive Behavior Award
Promote bystander power by asking students to nominate their fellow classmates who
they believe have played an effective role in preventing bullying. This award would be
designed to highlight the day-to-day actions of students who may often go unrecognized for their good efforts.
The award would help remind students that even the smallest gesture, such as standing up for someone who
is being bullied or being there for a friend, is an important gesture.
 Lights, Camera, Action!
Create a Commercial Public Service Announcement (PSA)
Are there any aspiring actors who would like to be involved in your efforts? Why not cast them in your very
own commercial PSA about bullying prevention.
o Define the message of the PSA and who your target audience is. Is your message something that
you believe would be more appealing to youth or adults? Will you show the PSA in all classes at
school?
o Start writing the script. The Stop Bullying Now website has lots of good ideas.
o Practice, practice, practice.
o Will you share your PSA with other schools?
 Mentoring Programs
Young people who bully are more likely than those who do not to have problems in school. They are also
more likely to run into troubles later in life, such as depression, aggression, and substance abuse. In order to
help prevent these possible outcomes, consider mentoring a bully. Mentoring those kids who are victims is
also a great idea. School connectedness is powerful for all kids.
 School Newsletters and Website
See if there is space on your school newsletter, or school webpage for content related to bullying. You can
post a “tip sheet”, ideas from the Stop Bullying Now! website, Second Step, or Bullyproofing Your Schools.
 Start a Stop Bullying Now! Club
The club can be in charge of planning monthly activities to raise awareness around bullying prevention and
how to build positive social skills. There can be a SBN! club lunch table once a month that includes table
cloths, table decorations, real table settings, and all the kids who have received acts of kindness awards.
