The North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC) seeks a qualified Disaster Recovery Coordinator to support its mission to protect and preserve the rights and liberties of all the people by providing a fair, independent, and accessible forum for the just, timely, and economical resolution of their legal affairs. The Disaster Recovery Coordinator administers the development, design, testing, maintenance, project planning, and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans and programs of the NCAOC in order that business operations will continue in the event of an emergency or a declared disaster.

Responsibilities for the person in this position include but are not limited to the following:

 Provide guidance and oversee the development of disaster plans.

 Perform risk analysis to identify points of vulnerability and recommend disaster avoidance and reduction strategies.

 Participate in the negotiation of contract requirements for a hot site to ensure an adequate environment exists for recovery in the event of a disaster or an emergency.

 Travel to the hot site location per terms of the contract to observe and coordinate tests of the disaster recovery plan.

 Provide guidance and consulting for other entities on disaster recovery methodology and programmatic procedures/guidelines.

 Develop acceptable business recovery times and priorities in the event of a disaster.

 Coordinate infrastructure capacity and utilization reporting.

 Oversee the creation and the maintenance of disaster recovery documentation standards and emergency response procedures.

This position reports to the Infrastructure and Operations Administrator and requires approximately 10% travel and the ability to provide on-call support as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Knowledge of: disaster recovery/business continuity concepts and methodologies; other Technology Services Division functional areas to assist in the preparation of systems backup, recovery procedures, and recovery time objectives; and system backup and recovery procedures.

Skills in: analysis, organization, and decision making; verbal and written communication; administration; developing tasks and managing resources to achieve target dates; Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to: plan, organize, and implement recovery operations in the event of a disaster; work independently with minimal supervision; negotiate and communicate in an effective manner with technical teams and Executive

Management of the NCAOC to develop disaster recovery plans; interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively with business partners in remote locations; develop and manage project deadlines; effectively conduct meetings to gain support for disaster recovery practices; and communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor degree in a computer related field and three (3) years of experience in disaster recovery and business continuity planning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Management prefers applicants with seven (7) years of experience managing enterprise infrastructure disaster recovery and business continuity programs; Disaster Recovery Certification or Business Continuity Certification; or Certified

Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); or project management certification or experience using Microsoft project planning software.
