MISSION STATEMENT
Admissions and Records is dedicated to student
access and success by providing accurate,
timely, and exceptional customer service
regarding the online application process,
registration, and academic policies while
providing responsive and professional service to
students, faculty, staff, and the community.
The mission of Assessment and Orientation at
Berkeley City College is twofold. First, it
provides students with information regarding
their current skills in reading, writing, and
mathematics so that they may choose classes -based on academic skill level -- that will help
them succeed at BCC. Second, it provides
students with information regarding the
college's programs and services including, but
not limited to programs and majors, degrees,
certificates, transfer requirements, and support
services.
The primary goal of CalWORKs/TANF program is
to provide educational and career opportunities
and support services that enable students to
complete their educational goals and find
meaningful employment and successfully
transition into the workforce thereby attaining
economic self-efficiency to support their
families.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Transfer and Career
Information Center at Berkeley City College is to
help students identify their majors, plan their
careers, and/or select transfer institutions.

The Transfer and Career Information Center
(TCIC) facilitates a student’s transition to work

following the completion of a Certificate or
Associate of Arts Degree by providing
information about the diversity of work
opportunities available. The TCIC Center also
helps students in the process of transferring to
bachelor’s degree programs by providing print
and on-line resources to assist students to
identify a career, a major, and a transfer
college, and by providing resources and
activities to complete the transfer process. A
primary mandate of the Center is to support
underrepresented students to identify
strategies and resources necessary to realize
their transfer and career goal.

EOPS/CARE
MISSION STATEMENT
SERVICE AREA OUTCOME
Mission of EOPS/CARE:
The mission of the Extended Opportunity
Programs and Services at Berkeley City College
is to provide financial and academic support to
students whose educational and socioeconomic
backgrounds may prevent them from
successfully attending college. EOPS provides
students with services including orientation,
early registration, specialized counseling,
academic planning, career guidance, academic
progress monitoring, basic skills instruction,
tutoring, book grants, transfer assistance, and
special cultural awareness activities.

EOPS Description:
The Extended Opportunity Program and
Services (EOPS) is a state-mandated program
designed to increase the percentage, retention,
and transfer of students affected by language,
social and economic disadvantages, by
providing “over and above” services to achieve
academic success at Berkeley City College (BCC).
EOPS provides financial and comprehensive
academic support which includes: recruitment
of low-income, high-risk, historically
underrepresented and educationally
disadvantaged students, academic and personal
counseling; transfer and career services,
specialized program orientation; priority
registration, book vouchers, peer tutoring,
designated computer lab, and other academic
enrichment activities to assist students with
completing their educational goals.

CARE Mission:
The mission of Cooperative Agencies Resources
for Education (CARE), a supplemental program
to EOPS, is to provide financial assistance to
students who are single heads of household
with dependent children. CARE students receive
supplemental counseling and advisement

of attending the EOPS/CARE orientation,
students will be able to a) identify
services available to them as EOPS/CARE
participants and identify the different
academic programs and student services
available to them at Berkeley City
College. b) fulfill their responsibilities as
EOPS/CARE students by completing the

contacts, submit mid-semester progress
reports, participate in priority
registration, and utilize book voucher
services in a timely manner.

The mission of Financial Aid at Berkeley City
College is to support access to education by
providing needed assistance in a timely efficient
and nurturing manner to economically
challenged students who meet Federal, State,
and institutional requirements.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Jerry Adams Learning
Resource Center is to ensure student success in
academic, career/technical, and other areas
through individual and group tutoring. We
address students' academic needs in math,
English, ESL, and other program areas; their
ability to work effectively in a college
environment; and personal development as it
relates to academic success. We endeavor to
challenge and support our students, motivating
and empowering them, while responding to
their individual needs.
The primary mission of the Berkeley City College
Library is to promote student success and equity
by providing access to space and resources
needed to complete studies and supporting the
curriculum and information needs of the diverse
Berkeley City College community. This mission is
met by providing physical and remote access to
quality diverse print, electronic, and multimedia
resources, services, and instruction. Consistent
with the mission and institutional outcomes of
Berkeley City College, the library faculty and
staff strive to promote information competency,
critical thinking, life-long learning, and academic
success. They do so by making available to
Berkeley City College students faculty and staff
the resources needed to conduct research
related to their curriculum and endeavors and
by promoting the information competency skills
needed to successfully retrieve information
through instructional support.

The mission of Program & Services for Students
with Disabilities at Berkeley City College is to
provide accommodations and assistance to
students with disabilities that facilitate their
achieving their educational goals. We are
committed to ensuring that students receive

that end, we seek to balance the student’s right
to access with our obligation to protect the
integrity of our college’s programs and services.
