SWIMMERS: The meet is limited to 220 attending swimmers, priority is on a
first come, first serve basis. Entry package must be in the possession of the Meet
Manager by November 14, 2015 at 6:00 PM. Preference will be given to clubs
swimming all three sessions. Due to the constraints of the pool, each team will be
limited to 50 swimmers. Should any openings arise, clubs will be informed and
entries will be on a first come, first serve basis for these extra spots. The Meet
Manager will determine if late entries will be accepted.
SANCTION: Sanctioning has been applied to Swim Alberta through the
Swimming Canada website at www.swimming.ca.
ELIGIBILITY: This is an open invitational meet. Swimmers must be a registered
swimmer with Swim Canada. There are no qualifying or de-qualifying times.
AGE GROUPS: Female: 10& under, 11-12, 13-14, 15 & over
Male: 11 & under, 12-13, 14-15, 16 & over
AWARDS: Events in each session run as “OPEN”. Medals will be awarded for 1 st,
2nd, and 3rd place in individual events for each age group (as above) and ribbons
will be awarded for 4th, 5th and 6th place. For relays, medals will be given for 1st
place and ribbons will be provided for 2nd and 3rd place.
RULES: The one start rule applies to this meet. All other Swimming/Natation
Canada (SNC) rules must be adhered to and can be found on the Swimming
Canada website.
ENTRIES: Entries are limited to a maximum of 6 individual swims (maximum 4
events per day excluding relays). Swimmers (10 & under girl and 11 & under
boys) may be entered in 1 qualifying event only. (200 Free or 100 IM) Swims
may be limited at the discretion of the meet manager due to session timeouts.
200IM (FINAL EVENT): Fastest 6 swimmers in each Age Group, as
determined by their 100 IM time, will swim in a 200 IM final which will be the
last event on Sunday. Prizes will be awarded to fastest swimmer in each Age
Group.
SEEDING: All events are timed finals. Heats will be seeded from fastest to
slowest.
ENTRY TIMES: Entry times are required for all entries to facilitate timing of
the meet by the Meet Manager. Coaches must estimate a time for a swimmer if a
time is not available, NT will not be accepted.
SESSIONS: The meet will be run in 3 sessions.
Session 1 will begin Saturday morning at 8 AM (warm-up at 7 AM) for:
Female age groups: 11-12, 13-14 and 15 & over.
Male age groups: 12-13, 14-15, 16 & over
Session 2 will follow at 1:30 PM (warm-up at 12:30 PM) for:
Female age groups: 10 & under.
Male age groups: 11& under
Session 3 on Sunday at 8 AM (warm-up at 7 AM) will be combined for all age
groups.
RELAYS: Coaches are asked to identify the number of relay teams they plan to
enter. This will better facilitate organization of the meet; actual names can be filled
in the day of the meet. Relay entries must be in 30 minutes prior to start of
session.
ENTRY FEES: Fees are consistent with Swim Alberta fees for timed finals at
$6.75 per individual swim and $7.25 per relay team. Deck entries may be accepted
provided they do not create extra heats. If accepted, deck entries will be exhibition
swims for a fee of $13.50 per swim.
PAYMENT: Please make cheques payable to the Calgary Winter Club.
Payment must be received before the start of the meet.
SCRATCHES: E-Mail deadline is 12:00 Noon Monday November 23rd, 2015
for scratches without penalty. Scratches made after the scratch deadline will not be
eligible for refund and the attending club will be responsible for the fees. However,
please E-Mail any post-deadline scratches to optimize the meet timing.
Events will be marshaled for all sessions. Events will be posted in the marshaling
area only; there is no PA marshaling announcements. Failure of a swimmer to
show will result in the swimmer being scratched from that event.
CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS: Every effort will be made to ensure all
entry swims are completed. Meet management reserves the right to modify the
meet program to allow for maximum number of swims within the time allotted.
Coaches will be advised of any changes to the program. If events or relays need to
be cancelled due to time constraints, entry fees will be refunded for those events.
SCORING: There will be no scoring at the meet.
HEAT SHEETS AND RESULTS: Heat sheets will be available prior to the meet
and results will be posted.
ENTRY PACKAGE: Entry package must include:
• HYTEK entries to Swimming Canada website
• Hard copy of entries to confirm entries are correct
• Entry fees
Entries: Entries will only be accepted by upload to the Swim Canada website.
OFFICIALS: We will need officials for all three sessions to make the meet a
success. The CWC Swim Club Officials Coordinator (Lisa Siemens) will contact
attending club coordinators to request officials and volunteers. You may also
contact Lisa directly at lasiemens@shaw.ca
CONCESSION: Food and beverages will be available at the CWC cafeteria and
snack stands.
All food is prohibited on deck. Glass containers are prohibited on deck. The
management of the Winter Club considers any food in the water as a contamination
and will close the pool for 24hours and super chlorinate it as per the Health
Departments requirements.
Please ensure your swimmers keep their area tidy during and after each session.
BILLETS: Sea Lions Swim Club is not able to offer billeting.
NOTE: The Calgary Winter Club is a private club and we request that you ask
your swimmers and parents/guardians to use the dedicated areas only. There are
stands for parents to view the swimmers. The rest of the club including the second
pool and hot tub is off limits.
Lockers are for Members of the Winter Club only. Athletes should bring all their
belongings on deck with them.
PARKING: Due to the large number of participants and regular programs at the
Winter Club, parking is unavailable on both days. Parking attendants may check
for membership cards. Parking passes will be made available for coaches. Clubs
are encouraged to car pool. Swimmers can be dropped off at the front entrance and
vehicles can be parked outside the club in the surrounding community. Please note
that there is no entry to the Calgary Winter Club before 6:50 A.M. All doors
are locked until this time.
