Karlheinz Haupt

Karlheinz Haupt graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Technical University in
Darmstadt, Germany. He started his professional career in 1982 as a development
engineer for powertrain components at LUK GmbH, Bühl, Germany.
After joining ITT Teves in 1984, part of ITT Corporation, he held several positions within
the engineering organization. He was appointed Director of Engineering for Brakes and
Chassis North America during a three years assignment in Auburn Hills, Michigan, took
the responsibility for a joint venture activity in Japan and Korea and was leading the
worldwide engineering activities for electronic brakes.
After the integration into Continental Automotive Systems he was responsible for the
segment Hydraulic/Mechanic/System within the Business Unit Electronic Brake Systems
including the responsibilities for engineering, project management, industrial
engineering, purchasing and plants.
From 2004 to 2008 he headed the Business Unit Electric Drives in Berlin, Germany, with
the responsibility for Hybrid Electric Vehicle activities, electric motors and actuators.
After the Siemens VDO integration into Continental in 2008 he did run the Automotive
Central Engineering activities as Head of Systems & Technology, Automotive and took
additionally the responsibility for engineering in the Powertrain Division and in the
Engine Systems Business Unit in 2009.
Since 2010 he was the head of Corporate Quality & Environment and Quality
Automotive. Effective November 1, 2013, Karlheinz Haupt took over the management of
the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Business Unit, one of four Business
Units within the Chassis & Safety Division. In this capacity he reports directly to Frank
Jourdan, Executive Board Member Continental AG and President of Division Chassis &
Safety.
Karlheinz Haupt is married and has four children. He relaxes at different outdoor
activities in his spare time. Haupt is interested in literature and likes to spend time with
the boat on the water.
