- Largest glaucoma center in Germany (Director: Prof. Dr.
Norbert Pfeiffer)
- Complete range of glaucoma surgeries including tubes,
minimally invasive surgeries
- Clincial and surgical studies, development of new surgical
techniques
- Large pediatric center, specialized on babies/children with
glaucoma and congenital cataract.
- Clinical center is part of one of the largest epidemiological
studies, the Gutenberg Health Study (GHS) including the
long-term examination of 17.000 inhabitants in the Rhein
Main area.
- Large, certified clinical study center running several clinical
trials.
- Experimental Ophthalmology Department (Head: Prof. Dr.
Dr. F.H. Grus). Main research interest: “Ocular proteomics
and immunology”
- Cooperation with Translational Neuroscience Center of the
Johannes Gutenberg- University Mainz
- DFG funded grants supporting basic and clinical research in
glaucoma.
