Dear Valued Customer,
Welcome to Griffin Disposal we are happy that you have made the commitment to your waste
management need.
Please have your trash out by 6:00 am for guaranteed pick up. We CANNOT guarantee that your pick-up
time will stay the same every week. Our routes will adjust for weather and road conditions, in the event
of an ice or snow day your garbage service maybe delayed by a few hours or a whole day.
You may place all household trash out, (large item must be called in see info below), and we offer
recycling as a weekly service be sure and check out our rewards program. All recycling must be cleaned
of food debris, please separate all paper by bundling then together and tied or by bagging separately.
NO delivery pizza boxes are accepted for recycling.
Billing is done quarterly. A quarter is 3 months long. Your bill will be sent in advance of the due date.
Garbage is a prepaid and non-refundable service. Please be sure to send payment before your new
quarter begins so that service is not interrupted. A late fee maybe added if your payment is late. If we
have not received payment before your new cycle begins, service will be suspended. New customers
must pre-pay for the first quarter. We accept checks and credit cards. Please mail all checks to the
address listed below and please call the office to process credit payments or you my use the online
account page at www.griffindisposal.com.
We are closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a week day, your pickup will be one day later
that week.
RESTRICTIONS include: Liquid of any kind (including paint, oil, gasoline, pesticides, gas cans/tanks, liquid
solvents, glue, batteries, cement, bricks, rocks, dirt, and tires). Any questions about construction

Disposal Questions:
Q: How many bags am I allowed to put curb side each week?
A: Depending on the type of program you have purchased with us, this answer varies.
If you have a cart service you are allowed to palace the cart and up to 2 more containers curb side, and 3
bags. If you have our basic service you can place up to 10 bags curbside weather in a container or
setting them out tied securely. We will not pick up garbage in paper sacks, proper containment must be
used; be it a plastic gallon bag or garbage can.
Q: Do I have to call ahead for a bulky large item pick up?
A: Yes at least 24 hours before your schedule pick up day and all items must be broken down into pieces
that are smaller than 5’ in length and it must be light enough for one men to lift. Then you really only need
to set out your bulky item on any regular trash day and we’ll take it away.
If item is not broken down properly, the driver may refuse to take it, or you may incur an extra charge of
$15.00. Mattress furniture and appliances are considered large items and are an extra 15.00 charge (+except to our senior citizen). We do not take large projection screen TVs. We ask that you donate these
working items to charity or recycle them at your local Best Buy.
Q: How do I dispose of paint?
A: Paint must be completely dried up before we can take it. Please add an absorbent such as kitty litter or
sand (not dirt) to paint cans to help dry up any unused paint and set the cans out next to your trash can
with the lids off. The EPA does not allow us to haul liquids, but as long as the paint is dry, we can pick
them up.
Q: How do I dispose of old electronics or TV?
A: Your local Best buy will be happy to help you recycle these items for you. They take almost any small
or large electronic item for recycling. No matter how old. You can also check with you local Office depot,
Office Max and Staples for the programs they have implemented. Some elementary schools collect cell
phone for charity and our soldiers.
Q: How do I dispose of concrete?
A: We Do Not Accept Concrete. Please do not put concrete in your cart or in cans. For large amounts of
concrete PLEASE give our office a call and we can make arraignments for delivery of a roll-off to haul it
away.
Q: How do I dispose of a refrigerator?
A: Due to federal law all appliances containing Freon are banned from landfills. The Freon must be
removed and captured by a certified technician who will put a sticker on your appliance after the Freon is
removed. Once this sticker is on the appliance we are allowed to take it for you. Please call to make
arraignments for pick up then just set it out on your normally scheduled pick up day. Additional costs will
apply. REMEMBER Detroit Edison will pay you to haul away your old appliances. Detroit Edison's Free
Appliance take-away AND credit toward your energy bill.
Q: How do I dispose of tires?
A: Section 11514 of Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the Natural Resources and Environmental
Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, prohibits a person from delivering to a landfill for disposal, and a landfill
owner or operator, from permitting the disposal in a landfill tires. Tires are accepted for disposal at any tire
dealer including Kan Rock, Belle Tire and Wal-Mart for a small fee.
Q: How do I dispose of windows?
A: Windows can be set out with your regular trash on your normal pick up day. Windows that are longer
than 5’ in length must have the glass broken out of them before we can take them in our truck. Anything
longer than 5’ will not fit into the truck without dropping broken glass on the road or in your driveway.
Q: What should I do with broken glass or mirrors?
A: For safety purpose, please wrap broken glass and mirrors in newspaper before placing it in the trash
.
Q: Where can I get rid of hazardous waste?
A: Check with your township, city or county to find out information on Household Hazardous Waste drop
off sites located near your community.
Q: Can I place carpeting out to be picked up?
A: Up to (5) rolls of carpet cut into (4) foot lengths and properly rolled and tied for ease of handling. They
must be able to be manageable by (1) man.
Q: Can we place out construction material from a house remodel
A: Any construction materials that are placed out will be considered a special pickup, such as dry wall,
wood, doors, cabinets, shingles, tile, etc and needs to be called in for pick up. Special Pickup will be
charged accordingly depending on the amount? Construction debris or cleanup project are not
considered large items, there will be separate charge for this. Please call for approval, and to schedule.
Cart and Bin Questions:
Q: What should I do if my Cart or Bin is broken?
A: Please contact the office and we will schedule a date to switch out your broken cart or bin with a new
one.
Q: What do I do with my Cart or Bin should I move?
A: First call the office and let them know to stop your services. Then we will make arraignments to have
the item picked up. Your Living Green Rewards account will remain open until you have used your
rewards point.
All garbage cans are the property of Griffin Disposal (except HOA purchases). Any damage that is not
caused by normal use to the can will be your responsibility. If the can is irreplaceable, you may be liable
for the cost of purchasing the garbage can. In the event that the garbage can is lost or stolen, you are
liable for the cost of the can.
