Meeting Minutes – May 20, 2015
I.
Call to Order
Nan Dill
Nan Dill called the meeting to order at 9:08am, and welcomed the board
members and guests (9 total) in attendance.
II.
Warrior Coalition
Melanie Stutenroth
Melanie Stutenroth stated the next Warrior Coalition meeting will be June 8 th in
Terrace Park. All community members are encouraged to attend. Melanie
discussed some of the events planned for the fall, including a Message Resource
for Parents to help facilitate discussions about drugs and alcohol with their
children.
Principal’s Report
III.
Molly Connaughton
Ms. Connaughton discussed several items with the group:

District-Wide Arts Audit - The District-wide K-12 Arts Audit is wrapping up.
Administration is excited to see the feedback and summary report with
recommendations to improve arts within our schools from the Ohio
Alliance Arts Education (OAAE) later this summer.

Exams - The exam schedule has been posted on the JH website. Note
that the grade level ceremonies are for students & staff only.

JH Snack Bar - will remain open through May 29th.

2015-2016 School Schedule - Administration is finalizing logistics of next
year’s school schedule, including a proposed move to an 8am-3pm school
day. Elective choices were sent out to upcoming 7 th & 8th graders, copies
of these forms are attached to these minutes. Schedules will be
determined once student preferences are submitted. Teachers are
currently working on Expedition ideas to be offered to students next year.

Wash DC Class Trip - Details for the Washington DC class trip are
currently being finalized. Ninety-one 8th graders and nine Chaperones are
attending. A special thank you to Teresa Mikesell for designing and
coordinating the t-shirts for the trip. Parent Meetings are scheduled for
next Wednesday to answer any last minute questions.

Staffing Changes - Ms. Connaughton discussed several staffing changes
for the 2015-2016 school year.

IV. Counselor Report
Amy Skinner
The School Climate Committee has decided to adopt 5 days of the “8 Days of
Greatness Initiative.” Students will participate in activities that represent
Kindness, Gratitude, Generous, Friendship & Celebration.
V.
Treasurer’s Report
Sarah Grimmer
Sarah provided the attached Treasurer’s Report for review.
VII.
Conclusion / Minutes / Adjournment
Ms. Connaughton thanked Nan Dill for her wonderful leadership this year, and
announced the PTO officers for the 2015-2016 school year.

Upon motion by Jeri Gatch, and seconded by Dina Wilder, the April 2015 minutes
were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30am.
