Staff meeting:
Lunch time access to the surgery – we currently have a Wednesday lunch time surgery
which may be extended to other days at NS. There will be telephone access over lunch
time for queries and book ahead appointment.
Extend book ahead to 3 months.
Message on answering machine.
Staff training –
Blocked appointment
Book one or two days in advance
Nurse appts on system up to 3 months to correspond with GP appointments if agreed.
On call doctor – the on call doctor has time blocked so that any patients who need to be
seen urgently are able to be fitted into his/her surgery.
GP decisions to be fed back at next meeting.
As above with a view to extension over time.
Patient reports – when publicising alter information to anonymise. Opinion was that the
practi ce website could be better publicised.
Message on back of px “med review due” – if doctor reviews without the patient being
present then that person should be notified. Pharmacies do medicines usage review, not
clinical review as they are purely checking compliance.
Change of medication is surgery dependent, the pharmacist cannot change without
agreement from a doctor.

NEXTMEETING
Ideas about future actions. Hard copy paperwork will be posted to patients in the future
as not acceptable for patients to do this at their own expense. Most patient
representatives really want to become involved in developments although at the moment
this is not happening.
Request for regular medicines – KY (pharmacist) explained that the surgery needs to issue
and then send to the pharmacy of choice. The pharmacy will dispense. Doctor will issue
px token to be taken to the pharmacy.
If a patient has no nominated pharmacy – surgery or pharmacy can nominate. Doctor
could simply issue a token.
HP not switched on most of the time.
Those present felt that monthly DNA numbers should be clearly displayed in all waiting
rooms.
Signed by all present.
It was reported that the repeat prescriptions line is not accessible between 12.30 pm –
1.30 pm.
13TH May at 12.00 North Shields.
